We're almost there! Our new Nature Centre in Houston, BC, a place to build community around nature education, watershed restoration, and sustainable living, is ...nearly complete. This space will allow us to host more educational events on-site but we need the last $15,000 for furniture, equipment, and final touches by Christmas in order to open our doors to nature education in the new year. Here's our most current update on the Nature Centre: https://youtu.be/Uq1iWUDm0-E Please consider contributing today at: https://arocha.ca/watershed-stewardship-centre-houston-bc/

Happy #WorldToiletDay! Did you know that you can contribute to this project through our Climate Stewards Calculator which helps you to offset your carbon footprint? Calculate your carbon emissions from travel and household use, and the offset proceeds go towards providing families in Uganda with biosand filters! https://arocha.ca/get-involved/climate-stewards-calculator/
"Many of us have traditions surrounding the Christmas season. The time we go and get the Christmas tree. Carol singing. Family parties and dinners. Decorating the house with lights. Our faith tradition offers ways of grounding this season as well, beginning long before Christmas in the season of Advent. Advent is an opportune time for we who care for Creation to re-situate our hearts away from consumption and towards compassion and care." Matt Humphrey, Director of Theological Education, offers us some helpful ways to reorient our hearts this season.
Check out the incredible work of A Rocha India!
New blog post! "The practice of paying attention invites us to reconsider our way of being in the world. It invites us to see the connections in all things, and it pushes us to see beyond our fear and sense of isolation."

A Rocha summer worker alumni, Jubilee Dueck Thiessen, is this year's third place finalist on the bi-national level for the C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest! Her speech titled "Stewards of Joy: Answering the Call of Ecological Shalom" earned her prize money and a scholarship to a peace conference of her choice. In her speech she articulates a robust and joyful theology of creation care. We're so proud of her!
A year ago, we lost three precious lives in a tragic accident. We have felt the loss of Miranda, Chris and Susanna in every day since. A year on, we want to mar...k this day as a community who continue to mourn. We cannot understand it, but we trust that God is with us in our grief today, as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow. "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." 1 Corinthians 13:12
"In my experience, it is common among those who study the planetary crisis closely to bear two difficult experiences, which compound upon one another. The first..., that we are deeply grieved to face all the wounds of this world. And the second, that we experience this grief as lonely indeed, solitary work often lacking a public or shared outlet to be expressed." What does hope look like in this context? How do we live with this ecological grief? These are the kinds of questions our panel discussed in our webinar recently. Matt Humphrey, our Director of Theological Education, wrote up a small reflection and gave links to many good resources below. https://arocha.ca/ecological-grief-alone-in-a-world-of-wou/ : Tomas Robertson
Manitoba Program Manager, Zoe Matties, will be participating on this panel discussing climate change and climate action. Join the listening circle!
