Our newest truck in the fleet came home today! TR-17 will be in service tomorrow with a familiar face of the Carleton Place Towing scene behind the wheel. I’m happy to say that Kevin Dunn from Apple Hill Towing has joined our team to service the Carleton Place and surrounding area. Be sure to give Kevin a wave when you see him out and about.

Anybody wondering why busses are cancelled today should take a good look at this picture. I showed up and the road was sanded but the rain was washing the sand ...right off the road. The car had slipped in the ditch first, then the plow driver tried to help him and he slipped in beside him. I backed down the road and was planning on pulling the car out of the ditch first then help the plow driver. Just as I was stopping to set up my pull my front end slipped off into the ditch on the opposite side. Keeping my cool I pulled the car out of the ditch, then helped the plow driver out who then helped me out. All in a days work and nobody or any equipment was harmed. Keep smiling everyone See more

Picture this: You're driving down the freeway and your car suddenly starts shaking. You immediately pull over and your car shuts off. You call for a tow truck. ...The tow truck arrives and starts loading your vehicle. During this, traffic keeps flying by you at speeds up to if not over 80km/h. There's only inches between you and the speeding traffic. All of a sudden a car slams into the back of your car and the tow truck. You didn't have enough time to move out of the way. You are pinned between the speeding car and your vehicle. The tow truck operator is trapped under your vehicle. A passerby stops to help and calls 911. Now you wait. You're bleeding, your seriously hurt, you hear from the person who stopped to help that the tow truck operator is not responding. Fear and anxiety steps in. The police, firemen and paramedics get there. Suddenly you feel like you're going to pass out. You awake in the hospital to find out you have several broken bones, a concussion and possibly worse. You also hear that the tow truck operator didn't make it. The driver of the speeding car escaped with a few bruises and cuts. You start to get angry. If only they had slowed down, moved over and gave the tow truck operator enough room to work safely. Now the tow truck operator has lost his life, you have several months of recovery ahead of you and the family of the tow truck operator has the rest of their lives without their loved one. Again, if only the other car had slowed down and moved over. Think about this story the next time you are traveling down the road and you see an emergency vehicle, tow truck, or construction vehicles on the side of the road. It only takes a few seconds out of your time to slow down and move over. They are people just like you. With families, loved ones, just trying to do their job and come home at the end of their day. Be a responsible, careful, considerate driver! PLEASE EVERYONE, SHARE THIS POST! See more

Ontario Provincial Police hand out #slowdownmoveover reminder coupons to 450 drivers: "Despite having issued a pre-weekend public reminder about the OPP's long ...weekend Slow Down, Move Over campaign, the OPP charged more than 450 drivers under Highway Traffic Act (HTA) Section 159 for failing to slow down and/or moving over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks parked on the roadside with their lights activated. While the enforcement data is still preliminary, the long weekend charges bring the total year-to-date number of HTA 159 charges to approximately 1,300. The law is intended to provide greater safety for emergency personnel who must work on the roadside, often in busy traffic conditions."
