Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." Rev 21:5... Blessed and joyful Feast of Nayrouz

St. Anthony Monastery, Perth, Canada 10.10.2021

The Feast of Assumption of the Virgin Mary The humblest of all humanity has been attributed to the Mother of God the Logos. She is honored more all the heavenly hosts. Of course, the body that was worthy to carry the Son of God nine months is worthy to be taken to heaven. Humility is the foundation and guardian of virtues; "and with reason, for without it no other virtue can exist in a soul. Should she possess all virtues, all will depart when humility is gone. But, on the ot...her hand, God so loves humility, that whenever He sees it, He is immediately drawn therein." This beautiful and necessary virtue was unknown in the world; but the Son of God Himself came on earth to teach it to us by His Own example, and willed that in that virtue in particular we should endeavor to imitate Him: Learn of Me, because I am meek and humble of heart. Matthew 11:29. St. Mary, being the first and most perfect in humility, and by it was exalted above all creatures. The first virtue in which the Blessed Mother St. Mary particularly exercised herself, from her early childhood, was that of humility. There can be no doubt, as St. Gregory of Nyssa remarks, that of all virtues there is perhaps none the practice of which is more difficult to our nature, corrupted as it is by sin, than that of humility. Pride steps in and drives us to do things that may lead to impatience, criticism of others, gossiping, back-biting, and other sinful things. If we work on building our humility we can grow to fear this type of behavior. It is not only hard to be humble in a hidden life, but to remain so in the midst of honors is a truly rare and beautiful virtue. How can we build and reinforce our humility? We should immediately turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is our Mother and will help us. Her example is one of selflessness always selflessness. Everything she did was out of obedience and for the glory of God. Let us contemplate Our Lady more each day. Let us also strive to follow, even though unattainable, her virtue of Perfect Humility. How do we practice humility? 1. The humble considers themselves under all creation, knows well they are dust and ashes, never considers themself equal to a human being, so is never offended from any insults, never angry and never stubborn. 2. The humble always blames himself in everything for the sake of Christ, even though he may be right. 3. The humble denies his will always, try to oppose the inclinations of the old nature inside you who tries to control you, and let the new nature in you live according to the will of God. Then you will enjoy the presence of God in all your life, anywhere and under any circumstances and He will give you true peace and tranquility. The blessing of St Mary be with you, through the prayers of our honored Patriarch Pope Tawadros II

It was necessary, in effect, that He who entered into human life for the salvation of men (...) should take His origin from an absolute integrity and that is given to Him without reserve"

New Coptic year 1773 AM (2020 AD) Wishing everyone a blessed Feast of Nayrouz, which is the beginning of the Coptic year 1737 AM. In the year 284 A.D., the Church experienced the most severe persecution under the rule of Emperor Diocletian. The Church honored the love of the martyrs and the blood they shed for the sake of Christ by marking this period as the start of the Coptic calendar. A positive view of martyrdom: ...Continue reading

St. Moses Feast 2020 Our church calls St. Moses, the strong, not only for his physical strength but also for his powerful repentance. Although he lived in all kinds of sin (thief, murderer, adulterer, violence .) for more than 30 years and was so terrible of a slave that his master cast him out, he was able to stay constant in his repentance. He endured unceasing warfare from the devil and painful memories of his past life. He became a father for many monks while alive a...nd even after his departure to heaven through his sayings and prayers for us. What was the secret of his constant repentance? St. Isaac the Syrian compares repentance to a ship sailing through the sea of this world and getting hit by the waves of various struggles. The captain of the ship is the fear of God, without which nobody can arrive at the harbor safely. We can achieve the fear of God through three things. Firstly, the remembrance of death. St. Sarah would say, Before I put my feet on the second step of the stairs, I put death before me. Secondly, the contrite and broken heart. St. Moses used to humiliate himself in all situations. He would also serve the other monks, considering himself to be the least of all. Through those efforts, the grace of God acted on his inner being and the fear of God lived inside his heart. Lastly, when we look at the beauty and glory of the kingdom to come and our beloved savior Jesus Christ. When we think of Christ and see Him waiting for our hearts to be wholly dedicated to Him, we are more inclined to obey His commandments; it is when we turn our minds away from Him that we fall. So we have to focus on our destination and arrive at the harbor which is the love in Christ waiting for us in eternal life. We have to encourage ourselves with all seriousness as we sail through the sea of this world. We cannot let any confusing or deceiving ideas be an obstacle in our way. May the blessings of St. Moses the Strong and the prayers of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II grant us the power to live the life of repentance with steadfastness and a contrite and joyful heart, rejoicing always in our beloved Savior.
