Let's hear Arvin's AIM story! Born and raised in Edmonton, Arvin moved to Toronto to pursue a career in law. He is now a partner with Matthew and Gupta, Toronto. He loves nothing more than curling up on his sofa with a good book. Unfortunately, his wife keeps dragging him out the door to engage in this eldritch activity known as kayaking. In 2009, he joined AIM, as a board member, where he now tries to pay it forward by luring others into the same fate. Arvin participated... in AIM’s first Hands Across The Water in 2012. For the first year’s fundraiser, he was one of the paddlers that formed a relay from Port Credit to Harbourfront, Toronto with 6 paddlers with disabilities. With every safety angle covered, there were 6 volunteer kayakers around each paddler, and even a sailboat running alongside the paddlers. During Arvin’s paddle, we heard, Man overboard. Arvin’s kayak had tipped over and he was in the water. Fortunately, he was adept at climbing back into the boat, with plenty of assistance at hand if he needed it. The day was very hot so he dried off in no time. Thank you Arvin, for all your support! #abilitiesnotdisabilities #paddlinglife #notforprofit

Let's hear out our summer program student. She has been helping us behind the scenes to develop and market our services. Hear her story! Hi, my name is Mackenzie, and I am a third-year kinesiology student at Western University, hopefully working towards getting my master’s in occupational therapy. Being born with Cerebral Palsy accessibility is something I am very passionate about. I have been a member of the Canadian Women’s Para Ice Hockey team since I was 14 and have had ...the chance to mentor young girls and women within the sport. I have seen first-hand the importance of inclusion and the positive impact it has on the lives of those living with a disability. The reason I decided to work with Abilities in Motion is that I know what it means to feel included. When everyone is given the opportunity to participate, it feels as if you are part of something much bigger than yourself. It gives you confidence and allows you to push the limits of what you believe is possible. I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to be involved in sport and want to help give others the same opportunity in whatever way possible. Abilities In Motion embodies what I believe in. I am incredibly proud to be working with a group of people who share the same passion. #abilitiesnotdisabilities #notforprofit #abilitiesinmotion #paddling
