Airplane Air Filters...are legit! Our Co-Founder was on a flight two days ago from Miami to Toronto, cutting his trip short due to this coronavirus situation. For the first time we brought onboard one of our air sensors... and it turns out that airplanes really do have good air filtration systems!... RESULTS: Humidity - 13% CO2 - 1014ppm Chemicals - 20ppb PM2.5 - 0 ug/m3 The CO2 level was pretty acceptable considering the number of people in such a tight space - For reference, when we brought our air sensor on a GO bus, the CO2 level was about 1400, and most people's homes sit at about 800. But this is ventilation-related, nothing to do with the air filtration system. The metrics we care about when assessing a filtration system are the Chemicals and PM2.5 (airborne particulates). We rarely ever see a PM2.5 of 0, not even in places with air filters present. Pretty Impressive. Where the air quality of an airplane really suffers is in the humidity. Remember to stay hydrated while on a plane!
