Representation matters and we can't wait to watch! Starting Feb. 8, the "BLACK LIKE ME - OUTDOOR EDITION" festival is a series of eight full-length films that showcase Black people excelling at outdoor activities. Tickets are $15 for the whole festival: https://colourthetrails.com/like-me-outdoor-edition/ From their website: Colour the Trails is an organization with a mission to inspire Black, Indigenous and people of colour to get out and enjoy nature. "Black Like Me", is p...art of a five-part film series called Like Me Outdoor Edition Film Festival that specifically focuses on stories of communities that have been intentionally and historically excluded from outdoor media and storytelling. Our goal is to bring visual representation to the varying intersectional identities through meaningful conversations surrounding outdoor adventure, sports and recreation, and also conservation. Diversity has always been present. Inclusivity, however, has been missing. Like Me Outdoor Edition is not your typical mountain film festival. It’s a community space. We know that representation matters. Our role is to visually define that representation is possible. Stay tuned for our upcoming series throughout the year: Indigenous Like Me Outdoor Edition Queer Like Me Outdoor Edition Fat Like Me Outdoor Edition Disabled Like Me Outdoor Edition https://www.cbc.ca//briti/black-like-me-festival-1.5899502 See more

Giving [even more] extraordinary kids a chance to be ordinary! Such wonderful news.
This is a song about one of our most favourite places...THE WOODS!! Join Jan as he takes you on a journey in the woods and we share some of our favourite camping experiences with people we've met at Parks Canada Learn-to Camps throughout the years! This is episode one, of our 9-part series called "The Learn-to Camp Road Trip" in collaboration with Parks Canada Halifax. So check back weekly for a new video from national parks and historic sites across our beautiful home provin...ce of Nova Scotia. From Mi'kmaq story telling, dancing, singing, campfire activities, learning about a curious sea creature and more! But first, we’ve been so excited by what we’ve been seeing, that we decided to write our own song to express our love for one of our favourite places -- the woods! *SONG LYRICS*: I want to go to my favourite place And find some sweet wide open space Because life is so much better in the woods Theres so much to see and do We can go for a paddle in the old canoe Because life is some much better in the woods! So come on now give it a chance From Kejimkujik out there to Banff Yes, life is so much better in the woods It’s my deepest hearts desire To sit with you by the campfire Yes, life is so much better here with you We’ll camp out along the shore And roast up some tasty s’mores Yup, life is better in the woods And before my head hits that pillow Gonna roast up a few more marsh-mellows Yes, life is so much better in the woods! I feel so much better on the inside Every time that I sleep outside Yes, life is so much better in the woods BRIDGE I feel such awful pity Every time that I’m stuck in the city Concrete jungle gonna leave it behind Hit that road right on time Yes, life is so better even in that rainy weather Yes, life is better in the woods! Gonna hang out with a fox and a bear The moose and marmots and the squirrels and hares Yes, life is so much better in the woods. We’ll swim in a lake just like a fish And on a shooting star, we’ll make a wish To come do this again with you Some come on now don’t hesitate Get outside and you’ll feel great Yes, life is so much better in the woods Yeah, come on now give it a chance From kejimkujic out there to Banff Yes, live is so much better in the woods We can howl at the moon So let’s get out camping soon!! Yes, LIFE IS SO MUCH BETTER IN THE WOODS!
This is the start of the historic Shubenacadie River as it leaves from Grand Lake and flows 72km to the Bay of Fundy. The Mi’kmaq used it as a highway for centuries and called it Segubunakade, later becoming known as Chigabenakady by the Acadians. In 1826 it became part of the 114km Shubenacadie Canal Commission that could accommodate large ships to get supplies across the province.
More Eastern Shore beauty. This is Wolfes Island with Cable Island, Owls Head and many other smaller islands in the background If you look close enough you can see us in Murphy's Camping on the Ocean tour boat directly below!
The Halifax Harbour is like an adventure highway with tons of off ramps. Choose your own adventures! In this photo we are returning to land after exploring McNabs Island for the morning. That’s George’s Island National Historic Site to the right of us, with downtown Halifax to our left and we are on board @north_west_arm_boat_tours : @acorn_art_photography #creatorcoastns #rediscovernovascotia #visitnovascotia
