Wow! This wedding was one for the books! Emma and Flavio are the first couple ever to be married in the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. #weddingplanningtip Preserving your Wedding gown. Should you do it? Like most wedding services, dress preservation isn’t exactly cheap. So, should you do it? If you are planning on keeping your dress then the simple answer is yes. Part of the dress preservation process is a chemical cleaning treatment which reduces the chances of the dress discolouring and turning yellow. Even if you store your dress in a garment bag and out of sunlight, after years in the back of ...the closet, the colour will inevitably change and unfortunately, once it’s yellow there is no way to make it white again. Lace dresses in particular are notorious for discolouration. If you are planning on selling the dress or cutting it up to use the fabric then you don’t need to undergo the dress preservation process. #weddingplanningtip Assuming vs legally changing your last name. Assuming: to assume a new last name means to take the new name on as your own from that point forward. So all your identification, SIN card, credit cards, travel documents, etc. will reflect this change. However, your birth certificate will remain unchanged. You will need a copy of your marriage license to make these changes so expect to wait about 12 weeks before the process even begins. If your going on you...r honeymoon right after the wedding, make sure you book and travel under your unmarried name. Changing: to legally change your name means you are also altering your birth certificate. You will also require your marriage license for this process, that said it’s a lot more complicated. The verdict: it is common practice to assume a name, whereas changing completely is pretty rare. And remember hyphenating or not changing your name at all is also an option!
