Algae Control Canada 24.10.2020

We usually try to share a project completion video after we’re finished installing an aeration system. This 1.5hp Vertex System was installed in a raw water reservoir in Fort McKay, AB to help manage manganese redox. #water #watertreatment #aeration

Spent the afternoon collecting evidence to solve a mystery for a client. After years of clear water an algae bloom started last summer. After the ice came off this spring the water was still green but almost no chlorophyll A in the water. Algae speciation revealed some plankton but not enough bio mass to explain the colour or turbidity. It will be interesting to see the results of today’s sampling when the lab has finished their analysis. #limnology #water #lakes #sampling @ Calgary Alberta Canada

This summer we did sediment sampling and analysis of Moose Lake on behalf of the and the M.D. of Bonnyville. These samples were analyzed by laboratories to determine how much phosphorus is contained in them, what it is bound to (iron, aluminum, etc) and the rate it is released under anoxic conditions. This data is important in determining how much of the algae growth in Moose Lake is being driven by internal nutrient loading and comparing it to how much is being driven by nu...trients from the watershed. This determination is vital in the development of an effective lake management plan. We are pleased to bring in our colleague Dr John Holz, a limnologist specializing in phosphorus mitigation in internally loaded lakes, to deliver a preliminary analysis of the data obtained from our sampling of Moose Lake. Please join us, Dr Holz and our hosts on December 17 to learn about the next steps in managing the algal blooms in Moose Lake.

Not only are we attending the Manitoba Conservation District Association Conference, we are a proud sponsor! We're honoured to share in this opportunity and we think you'll benefit from being at the conference. You don't have to be a water nerd to learn more about watershed management and improving water quality for everyone. You can simply want better water quality for all.... If you're: A community employee who works with ponds, stormwater or surface water A rural water manager A volunteer interested in watershed management A homeowner with lakefront property An angler with an interest in conservation A farmer who actively manages water sources for field crops and livestock A landowner with a private pond A student interested in water management This where you will learn about the science, projects and processes that help maintain our most valuable resource: water. Come join us and our wonderful hosts! https://www.manitobawatersheds.org/conference

November is busy in the world of water. This week we have team members at the Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Association Conference https://swwa.ca/ with a trade show booth and taking in some of the technical sessions. Next week our team will spread out be in two place at once: the Edmonton Alberta Water & Wastewater Operators Association Water Week conference and tradeshow.... ***We're proud sponsors of the Alberta Water & Wastewater Operators Association Water Week Young Professionals Pub Night *** Other members of our team are headed to Vermont for some serious learning about surface water treatment and management at the technical sessions NALMS 2019 Symposium. Learning and connecting with others in our industry is a big part of our company focus and mission. Hope to see you out and about!
