Repsol Lighting Upgrade Project Repsol Sports Centre needed new lighting to illuminate their sports facility better and to obtain more cost efficiencies in maintenance and utilities. They chose a state-of-the-art 50 lb each stadium lighting system with wireless controls. These lights had to be carried by hand up 80+ feet on a narrow, open grade stair no place for anyone with acrophobia. Allied Projects, as prime contractor, focused on the safety of our workers and the pu...blic: all workers complied with our 100% tie off policy, the tools were individually tethered, and we created project specific work procedures to ensure everyone was cognizant of the heightened safety considerations. All work was completed at night as the sports facility remained open and occupied during construction. Phased demolition/installation was required due to the weight restrictions on the catwalk. CONGRATULATIONS REECE TYLER!! We would like to congratulate one of our own, Reece Tyler, for winning in Edmonton at the Skills Canada Alberta competitions, and moving on to the Nationals in Winnipeg. He was one of 161 of the most talented post-secondary students and apprentices from across Alberta that were selected to compete in one of Canadas largest skilled trade and technology competitions. Reece spent at least 3 nights a week training at SAIT, putting in a huge effort! In these competitions, the judges are looking for accuracy, safety, clean work area, quality workmanship, built to code, and that everything works as intended. If a box is off even a couple millimetres, points are deducted. We are very proud of Reece, and honoured to be part of his career path in becoming a talented Journeyman Electrician.
