W21st - Vancouver Architect: Frits de Vries Architect Builder: Walia Construction Systems used: Reynaers CS77 and CF77... Another project in Vancouver meeting the U value requirement of 1.4. We installed a full Reynaers Aluminium package in clear anodized finish on this beautiful Frits de Vries Architect project built by the great guys at Walia Construction Inc. Expertise gained: The larger the IGU the easier it is to achieve great thermal performance. This project had somewhat smaller IGUs which made the challenge of meeting the thermal requirement slightly more difficult. In the end, as all our projects include a thermal model of the window package, we modelled it and specified the right kind of Low-E coatings on the glass and met the requirement with ease.

Wolfe - Vancouver Architect: The Airey Group Builder: Powers Construction Systems used: Reynaers CP155, CS77 and CF77... Designed by the Airey Group and built by Powers construction, this was a unique project in the Shaugnessy area of Vancouver. A modern addition to a heritage home saw AMG use Reynaers aluminum windows that exceeded the U value requirement on 1.4 as required by the Vancouver Building Bylaw (VBBL). Challenge was that while the majority of the units were large, the systems included transoms and smaller IGUs that traditionally would see the overall U value go up, bit with the introduction of a second LowE coating on select units the whole package was well below the 1.4 requirement. Expertise gained: Thermal modelling for double Low E, coordination and handling of extra-heavy and large triple-glazed IGUs.

Eastmont - West Vancouver Designer: Craig Chevalier Designs Builder: Rimrock Developments Systems used: PanoramaAh! PH38 + Curtain wall... Sitting on top of a bluff with panoramic views of the entrance to Howe Sound this projecttook full advantage of the PanoramAh! minimal frame window system. At 14’ tall, and fully automated, the minimal frame sliding doors take in the magnificent northwest views. The rest of the glazing package saw us use curtain wall with PanoramAh! tiltandturn windows, and extraclear glass throughout. Matching the overall glass specification to the PanoramAh! system prevents any discrepancies between glass coloration and allows for all the glass to have the same LowE coating and clarity. Expertise gained: Motorization and automation of systems and integration to Lutron home automation systems. Craning, maneuvering and installing extra large IGUs on a cliff side.
