December 17th is the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. In honour of this day, we'd like to remind you of the ongoing efforts to decriminalize sex work in Canada. Decriminalization would mean that anyone doing any type of sex work would be considered the same as any other self-employed worker. This would protect the rights of sex workers to live free from violence, stigmatization and marginalization. In Ontario, more than half of domestic abuse survivors delay leaving their partner due to fear for their pet's safety. Unfortunately, 89 per cent of pets involved in these situations are also subject to abuse. Not only is Anova's Clarke Road shelter pet-friendly, we’ve also partnered with @SafePetOntario to provide survivors and their pets with an opportunity to flee to safety. You can help, too.
