Footings poured. 18 meters in 2 hrs! HUG Footing Forms are awesome! They stay in place and act as drainage and radon control as well.

Starting the footing pour on a net zero ready, semi detached home in Wasaga, Ontario. Will keep posting during build. Snows clearing and building starting for 2018!

Out driving the island to assess the damages. It has been hit very hard. Most of the blue rooftops you see are traps covering destroyed roofs. Big job ahead to rebuild.

Returning to Canada. Had a great visit. Signed a partnership deal with the oldest solar company in this region of Caribbean! Alternate Power will be supplying sustainable energy systems to the Caribbean through this local partner. Providing power and heat using solar PV and Thermal to a home on Georgian Bay by Tobermory. Designed foundation and the in floor heat system that will make this home fully off-grid. Pictures show part of the lower foundation heat harvesting system that will allow us to harvest heat from below the house in the winter. Also we will charge it with the extra heat produced by the solar thermal in the summer. Combined with the remainder of the system this will add some almost free heat. Again we use the HUG Building System ICF block to create a thermal battery, so to speak.

Started a Net Zero straw bale timber frame home this week. It is water access only so it is a challenge. We are doing the R40 foundation, heating system, and any renewables needed in the home. Really nasty weather today. Loaded the barge with concrete and our ICF block system. Then had 40-50kph winds, hail, snow, rain and as we left the site, the sun came out! Great job from the API team! Footings are in.
