I am looking for a few volunteers to join a small group of us in turning and adjusting the shooting wall this Friday 10:00am until about 1:00pm. It is not a difficult or large job but 2 or 3 more volunteers will make it go smoothly. If you are able to and would like to help please respond by email. I will confirm with you and make sure we don't get a mob there. For the most part social distancing will be easy to maintain but please free to bring a mask or whatever makes yo...u feel safe. Have fun if you can Shoot strong Bob O

Hi All This email contains important information that you will require to shoot at the Nanoose Range this coming year. There are many changes required to allow us to shoot using Covid-19 protocols. Please remember as these protocols are being changed now and again so will the club rules be adjusted. I am sure we will also see changes made as we as shooters get more efficient at how we shoot at the range. Opening will be September 14th. As in the past we will shoot on Mond...Continue reading

Henry Range Re-Opening - Social Distancing Guidelines Submitted by Richard Thompson, PQFG President The PQFG Board of Directors has decided to re-open the Henry range on Tuesday, April 28, with the understanding that non-compliance with these guidelines will result in closure. The Range Office will remain closed until further notice. The re-opening of the Henry ranges will apply to members in good standing who currently hold gate keys. The Archery, Hand Gun, and 50-meter rang...es will accommodate three shooters at one time who are evenly spaced. The rifle range will accommodate four shooters at one time who are evenly spaced. Range times will be booked in ninety-minute increments, 24 hours in advance by calling the Range Warden at 250-248-0304 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Waiting for your scheduled shooting time must be done on the parking lot, not in the Club House. Booking Times: ARRIVAL DEPARTURE 09:00 10:30 11:00 12:30 13:00 14:30 15:00 16:30 17:00 18:30 19:00 20:00 The Range Warden will post the shooting schedule at each range prior to 09:00. The schedule will be adjacent to the sign in/out logs. If you are shooting in your scheduled time and no one has booked the next time period, feel free to stay and shoot. The Range Warden will be available to monitor safe range use. The PQFG Board of directors revisited the closure of the Henry range at the board meeting on the 23rd of April. There has been some great work done by the Henry Range Committee and others on the Board of Directors to produce this plan to keep our members and staff safe and healthy, and to comply with current social distancing recommendations. Sincerely, Richard Thompson, PQFG President See more

Sorry for the delayed response. Below is some info for the Harry Tutton. I'm too busy to attend this year but am hoping we don't get another snow day. 3-D Harry Tutton 3D archery is the shooting at life sized animals in challenging terrain to simulate hunting situations, usually at unmarked distances. Quantity of targets varies by host site. 3D archery is shooting at life sized animals in a natural setting. Shots are made challenging by the people who set up the course by ...using the terrain and vegetation. It simulates conditions that may be found when hunting. The PQFG crew like to put their own twist to things and many of the targets tell a story and add a bit of humour. The shoot will be Feb. 16th, registration at 8:00 AM, shooting starts at 9:30. There will be 30 animals in the morning and the same course used in the afternoon. The last 2 years the course has been full of snow, but we are hoping for better weather this year. We usually get between 60 and 100 guests, travelling from as far as Victoria, Campbell River, and Port Alberni.

Open House September 7th, 2019 This event was great success again this year, well over 100 folks dropped by and tried out the sport and saw what we offer for indoor shooting. The crowd was a fantastic mix of archers with the common denominator being they all had some fun. We had shooters from 4 years old to 84 years old, lots of curious first timers plenty of folks who had shot in their youth and wanted to give it another go, and even some current shooters from other clubs ...checking out what we do. We had locals and folks from as far away as Australia that gave it a try. For a lot of people this was their first time shooting a real bow and for others they were shooting after a long break from the sport. Everyone seemed to have fun and we managed to pop 5 large bags of balloons. The response and number of new membership that have come from this event has been awesome, additionally we hosted people interested in booking groups to come and experience archery and that too has resulted in new business. As with all the things we do at the club, there would be no chance of success if it wasn’t for the efforts and time donated by our volunteers. A giant thankyou to all the club members who helped out and presented the public with a fun and educational experience. You represented us well and you should be proud! Bob O'Brien

Hi All Hope everyone is having a great summer, enjoying the weather and shooting as much as you want. We will start our indoor season on September 9th. Please note we will be trying slightly different hours to try and manage some of the crowding we experienced in the last few years. We will be open from 6:00 until 9:00.... We will be hosting an open house event again this year, Sept 7th, see attached poster. This has been very well attended in the past and I expect the same this year. Please tell all your friends, relatives, neighbours, and any stray person who looks like they may enjoy archery. Feel free to print the poster and post where you think interested people might see it. We will need several volunteers to work with the folks who come to the open house, if you can spare a bit of time please let me know with a note as to how much time you can commit, Thanks. Shoot Strong Bob O'Brien
