Hey guys! Seeking a client for a portrait commission in a psychedelic style - wanting to try out a new idea that I think you'll love, but I need a subject! Must be open to creative use of colour, and love mandalas! $100 flat - 9x12 - heavy stock, toned tan paper.... Mixed media - colored pencil, ink and acrylic. Work in progress: Testing out the mixed technique with acrylic glazes. This is a deep cut (2007ish) and a little damaged. I think this was a final project in grade 10 or 11 art class. We had to pick through photos the teacher provided from years before. If anyone knows this lady can you tell her I have a portrait of her? HTHS 2000s or before Looking at this for the first time in years is making me remember how much I loved oil pastels, and instantly inspired me to pick it up again. I always felt like it was the perfect medium for me. Can’t wait to get back to it again. Oil pastel 18x24 on toned paper.

Shadows really needed definition even though there’s going to be a lot of white. Moncton Art Society 10 day painting challenge day 9 + 10! First one here is a psychedelic little watercolour scene with a lot of tiny details I added with a white gel pen when it was all done. This is actually the first etsy sale I've made (haven't made any more since) and the first artwork I've sold to a complete stranger. Next one is a geometric watercolour in which I aimed for a really harmonious composition and warmer colour scheme. Despite the fact that it's mostly sha...des of blue I think I achieved this! Still one of my favourites to date. Fun fact, it was originally going to be a plain white background but I dropped a loaded brush on it. Gotta deal with problems when they arise so I just added the same brush stroke all over, and voila- background. For the next round I nominate Brenda Parlee!

Moncton Art Society 10 day challenge, day 7 & 8 because I forgot yesterday! Here's a Kingfisher in acrylics (the first bird I've ever done in acrylics) and an Eagle Owl in watercolour, which I think is the last watercolour I've completed.

Moncton Art Society10 day challenge, day 5: Some say that you can't achieve good blending or glazes when working with acrylics. I would challenge that. All it really takes is testing, patience, and a medium- blending medium, retarder, gloss medium- and a bit of water. Most mediums intended to slow drying time are just perfected recipes containing glycerin- and they work best on the same brand of paint, but it's not necessary. You can really bring colours to life using glazes and it's really easy to blend with acrylics if you do some trial and error as you go. I would encourage everyone to give it a try if you haven't!

Moncton Art Society 10 day challenge day 4: This is an abstract piece I started as therapy. Tried out some new paints and new techniques, and started building confidence in brush strokes.

Moncton Art Society 10 day challenge day 3: This rose started out normal but I got angry at it and let it sit around for months. Then I spilled yellow paint on it and it became a grungy happy accident. I just let it become how I felt about it.

Moncton Art Society 10 day painting challenge, day 2: This little 6"x6" acrylic painting actually took quite a while to complete. Once again built upon sacred geometry, which I attempt to work into a lot of my abstract paintings. After getting the initial shapes in, I made extensive use of a very small liner brush to get in all the many little details. I took my time and did this almost passively but with great intent, while listening to podcasts and music. It's one of my favourites and I hope to do more like it soon.

I've been challenged by the Moncton Art Society to post a painting a day for ten days! Here's the first: This is a watercolour I completed during the winter. I aimed for balanced composition built upon circles and sacred geometry, and used soft, warm colours to evoke a sense of seasonal warmth, reminiscent of candle light, pine trees and Christmas trimmings.
