Stories like this warm our hearts here at ADS! A little girl in Carson’s class made a book for him today, and it’s just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I have to share with you. I love the picture with his EA wearing a mask and saying Bentley, forward. ... Just wanted to share this and show the beautiful impact Bentley is having in our school. Thanks for everything Alison

ADS is pleased to introduce our Puppy and Raiser for October! Sherri, her family with ADS Harmony! My partner Dusty and I have always had a love of dogs and when we lost our dog last year, we knew that although we weren’t ready to commit to another puppy of our own just yet, we could be a puppy raiser for the Autism Dog Services program. I am a consultant and work from my home office primarily, so I was able to spend the time. Knowing the difference a service dog can make ...in a child’s life was really meaningful to me. When we completed the application form we weren’t sure what to expect, but the team has been amazing with support and communication throughout the process. Harmony came to live with us right after Christmas last year and was already 7 months old. She had a bit of an adjustment period but was so gentle and loved to be around people that she connected with us quickly. The day she came to live with us, my youngest son who is 20 walked into the room and I thought she was going to be startled, she immediately went to grab a toy and dropped it at his feet. They have been BFF’s ever since. Harmony has developed amazing house manners and is always by my side. Although she is often sleeping at my feet while I work, she sometimes likes to check in with me, so she will come around and put her chin on my lap as if to see how my day is going. She has a silly and quirky personality as well. She loves laying on her back and quite often chases her tail. She loves kids so when our grandson comes to visit she is always close by. Her favourite toys are the ones she can chew incessantly on and her big knotted rope that she plays with in the yard. Harmony’s favourite way to play is to try and coax you into chasing her, which usually ends up being great exercise for us and her. We have been so grateful for the laughs and the affection Harmony brings to our house.
