After University, Dermatologists complete four years of medical school, followed by five years of Dermatology residency, where we see patients and study textbooks and medical journals to gain expertise in normal skin physiology and the thousands of diseases that can affect skin. After completing residency, there is a rigorous examination process to become board certified, and then many choose to take on extra training, called a fellowship, to learn more in a particular area of study. It is this decade long training process that makes us the true authority on skin and allows us to help our patients achieve the clear and healthy skin that they desire.

Coolsculpting is a body contouring procedure to treat stubborn areas of fat that persist despite a healthy diet and regular exercise. Coolsculpting uses a process called cryolipolysis to freeze fat cells, which the body then breaks down in the weeks following treatment. Patients generally find a 25% reduction to fat in the treated areas. Coosculpting can be used on the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms and legs The treatment is non invasive and is a good option for patients who are at their ideal body weight, but have areas of fat that persist.

Laser skin resurfacing uses specific wavelengths of energy to target water molecules in the deeper layers of skin, creating controlled injury. Following this injury the skin is forced into healing, which in turn triggers repair and collagen production. Laser resurfacing can be used to treat surface irregularities, like fine lines and scars, to improve skin brightness and tone and for skin tightening. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or are curious to learn more.
