Imagine yourself sitting on this rock with your thoughts. Close your eyes, feel the Sun on your face, the warmth caressing your body, feel the slight breeze with the mist from the water... feeling calm and refreshed. Breathe with the waves, coming in, going out ...relax, relax... Hello and welcome back to Tranquility body, Mind & Soul services. My followers: you may have wondered where I went.lol I have not forgotten about you, life throws us all curve balls from time to ti...me. Lol Today I want to talk to you about breathing. Sometimes we breathe very shallow and not realize it. I find talking to most women we hold our breath when we're doing our tasks. There's many books written about being in the now, being in the present/moment... we need to be in the breath.... Mindful of your breath. One exercise that I like to do is to breath in through the nose as much as I can take in. Filling up the belly, expanding the diaphragm. Then when I think I can't taken any more air in; I try and force in three more short puffs with my mouth. This takes practice! LOL. Hold this breath for 5 seconds and release. Try doing that three times. It doesn't matter when you do this, you could be in your car in traffic, you could be just getting out of bed or just going to bed. Just do it! Lol Another wonderful exercise is, breathing in through your nose as much as you can, holding it for the 5 Seconds and breathing out HARD using your solar plexus, your tummy, and your diaphragm. Don't be afraid to make a noise... let it out hard. What this does is gets to the bottom of your lungs and clears out the stale air. Do this three times. Try these techniques throughout the day. When you're calm, when you're stressed, As the song says Just Breathe... My daily prescription is ... Protect against Parkinson’s Eat fruits & other high-fibre foods (ahem, apples) may be protected against Parkinson’s disease, a condition characterized by a breakdown of the brain’s dopamine-producing nerve cells. Scientists have linked this to the free radical-fighting power of the antioxidants contained therein. 4. Reduce cholesterol The soluble fibre found in apples binds with fats in the intestine, which translates into lower cholesterol levels and a healthier you. 7. Healthier heart high soluble fibre intake. The phenolic compound found in apple skins prevents the cholesterol that gets into your system from solidifying on your artery walls. When plaque builds inside your arteries, it reduces blood flow to your heart, leading to coronary artery disease. Welcome to tip Tuesday! Physical activity doesn't need to be strenuous. A simple walk three times a week can improve what you've read in the picture. What I did was: I Google mapped where I live and planned a route that would take me a mile. I then timed myself at a pace that was good for me. Now each time I go out I try and beat my time or see how far past that point I can go in the same amount of time.... In a very short period of time I brought my time down from 23 minutes of walking a mile, to now less than 18 minutes. In the first two to three minutes I just do a slow pace just to warm up my core, get all the blood circulating. Then I bring my walking up to the pace for the target heart rate. The last two to three minutes of the walk I slow the pace down to lower my heart rate this is called the to cool down. You don't need fancy gadgets to find out if your in your target heart rate zone. All you have to do is talk out loud. If you're totally out of breath and cannot string words together your pushing too hard. If you can talk normally then, you're not pushing enough. Your target is when you can talk but with a little bit of breathlessness. Now you're in the right Zone. When you start becoming healthier you can do wind sprints. This is where you go all out for 30 seconds, and then relax for 2 minutes to bring down your heart rate. Do this several times in your workout/walk. Don't forget to stretch and hold for 30 seconds. I recommend stretching after your walking because your muscles are warm up. Welcome to motivation Mondays! Sometimes in life you have to take a risk. Sometimes you take a risk and you crash and burn. Lessons have been learned... so not a complete waste.... Sometimes you take a risk and it does pay off and you're happy that you did it and think to yourself why didn't I do this earlier. If you don't take a risk... nothing happens. I'm not saying start off with both feet and leap off a cliff. There are calculated risks. Educational risks. And risks that you need to take to get you out of your comfort zone. Start small.... just start! Fact is, you haven't heard from me for a couple of days because I have been trying to get everything sorted for my first day on the beach!... Welcome to fact or fiction Friday! Well my friends my challenge for Thursday was to do little kindnesses for people that I don't know. I had an appointment in Selkirk so that's where I was going to start my day. However, the universe flip things on me and I was the one to receive kindnesses from strangers. As you can probably tell I'm very new to this social media, well this lovely young woman stop what she was doing for over 15 minutes of her time to show me a few tricks on ...here. The second thing was I had forgotten to put my gas cap key back in the car... Good thing I'm cute LOL Anyway, I pulled into Coop gas station in Selkirk ( I was running on fumes) and had no way to get my gas cap off. I remembered that the gas cap I bought was at Piston ring in Selkirk. Long story short the lovely lady behind the counter was so kind, she took a key out of another package and unlocked my gas cap and when I offered payment, I received a hug. The 3rd was when I went back to coop. A kind gentleman heard that I was going to go through the carwash and as I was going to the car he stopped me and said he was going for a car wash too but he would back up and let me out so that I could go first. So Friday's fact or fiction is... The fact is people will be kind to one another with no agenda and to receive nothing in return. Their kindness has warmed my heart and they each have my full heartfelt gratitude. I believed what I learned today mostly was that because so much of the time I myself do not live in the present and I'm not always aware of my surroundings, that these random acts of kindness happen everyday, all the time but it goes unnoticed because I'm so wrapped up in the future forgetting to live in the present. Welcome to tip Tuesday! As you know I've been talking a lot about sleep. One of the benefits of reflexology is sleep. The big word is parasympathetic state, broken down, it means your body needs to rest and repair and to do that it goes to sleep. I have put clients to sleep on my table which is the best compliment to me. I know my treatment is working and they are repairing... I talked to the body through reflexology and it reactes in some cases immediately and other cases l...ater on that day. Never worry, I always book enough time between treatments, so if you did have to take a little rest and repair nap... I always give you plenty of time to do that! Reflexology has been around since the beginning of time and each culture recognizes it. I could go on about the wonderful benefits of reflexology, because I started out as a client and saw the wonderful things it's done, so much so I became a practitioner in 2004. The Iceland Heritage Museum is an excellent facility that celebrates the town’s Icelandic and Ukrainian settlers whose hard work and joint efforts helped make a good life for farming and fishing families. Welcome to Wellness Wednesdays This is a series on headaches. Your search for the best headache cure ends here. Here is 1 natural home remedies for headaches that really work. For me I use a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil on each temporal bone massage it in for 10 seconds and just for good measure I put peppermint oil on the back of my neck where the skull meets the neck just under the occipital bone. Being in a motorcycle accident and breaking 11 bones and having a concu...ssion, I know what a headache is like. Tylenol/ ibuprofen none of these things would work... my headache would just laugh. Sometimes it made the headache less intence, but it never took it away. I tried these 2 oils and believe me I was skeptical... but I was quite remarkably surprised how fast and efficient they worked. Can I vouch that it will work for everybody's headaches, sadly no. But as the saying goes nothing ventured nothing gained!. Wishing you a happy, healthy, healing day! Patricia

I had a very good question today and I'd like to share it with you. I was asked about insurance; there are several policies out there that do cover Reiki and reflexology. I am a full practitioner and in good standing with both Associations of reflexology and Reiki. I have my practitioners insurance number and ready and able to give you a receipt to submit to your insurance company. If you don't know if your policy covers my services and treatments phone your insurance provide...r they will be happy to assist you. Wishing you health, happiness, and healing...
