As Adventuring Sarah confirms in this picture, it doesn't get much better than "mountains as far as the eye can see, perfect light, and fresh snow". Have you ever seen a sunrise quite like this? Adventuring Sarah The Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola
Today, on International Mountain Day, we celebrate the incredible formations that provide home to half of the world's biodiversity hot spots. Mountains create shelter for precious wildlife, a source for up to 80% of the world's freshwater, and a fire in our hearts as we look up in awe. In Banff National Park, we know that mountains matter and strive to protect them as much as they do us. Photo: IG/aaronsami
These marvelous creations of mother nature are deliberate reminders of the importance of being present. Stand back, draw a deep breath and take a few moments to appreciate your surroundings as the water becomes still; you'll notice deep beauty in the "now" while every other thought can wait. While you're looking back and reflecting on an eventful year (and looking forward to new, exciting one), what are some of your favourite memories from 2020? Photo: IG/the_j_stevens
On Wildlife Conservation Day, we commend the outstanding efforts of our Parks Canada colleagues in helping to preserve the precious species who call Banff National Park home! Reintroduction of bison, wildlife corridors, preserved habitats for animals such as bears and elk, as well as public education on wildlife safety would not be made possible in Banff National Park without relentless dedication from the Parks Canada team. Thank you. What is your favourite animal to have seen in Banff National Park?
Where are you when you're on top of the world? If that place is here and if you can't be right now, keep your heart with us in spirit until we meet again. Each day brings us another step closer to singing from the mountaintops together! Photo: IG/saara.tanskanen

With new-fallen snow and surfaces that are not yet frozen, right now is one of the most unique times to sightsee Banff National Park's lakes. During the winter, you might experience some seemingly magical phenomena at Lake Minnewanka. When the atmospheric conditions align, Lake Minnewanka is one of the best places in Banff National Park to view the Northern Lights. Photo: IG/karineincalgary

This week, we bid farewell to Moraine Lake for another winter and, like clockwork, welcomed our first real snowfall of the season! In case you missed the golden foliage in Moraine Lake before Monday's seasonal road closure (typically in effect until late spring), here are some of our furry residents enjoying the last moments of fall.
We’re live from the In Search of Christmas Spirit lighting trail! As we all need to work together to keep our communities safe this holiday season, this year’s live story experience is reserved for those who live in the Bow Valley. We hope, however, that these lights will warm your heart no matter where you are!
The first snowfall of the year at Moraine Lake. While the Moraine Lake road may now be closed until spring, you haven't misssed out... yet! There is a brief window when the waters of all of Banff and Lake Louise's lakes, not yet frozen, still shine their breathtaking blue, while made even more magnificent by the snow-capped trees and peaks that surround them. That window is now.... Find some suggestions with "8 Gorgeous Lake That Aren't Lake Louise": https://fal.cn/3aVJz Photo by Swissclick_Photography

We'll frolic and play, the national park way, walking (on-leash) in a winter wonderland!
With the courage of the bears, the loyal spirit of the wolf, the joyful fish, and the determination of the buffalo, the animals of Banff National Park come together to give a gift to all who visit this protected land. A gift that we all may share, no matter where we arethe gift of Christmas Spirit.
On a windy winter's day, look up to notice snow being swept from the mountaintops and dancing in the air. When the sunlight joins in, it becomes quite the tango! Some refer to this phenomenon as "spindrift", but we think "mesmerizing" is more fitted, don't you? Photo: Bro Valley
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! With less than 1 week left until Christmas, we'd love to know your unique ways of enjoying a safe and happy holiday this year. While we may not be able to visit the Banff Christmas Market in person this year, it is our pleasure to bring the vendors to you with the Virtual Artisan Christmas Market. Find a truly unique gift in this wide array of handmade wares from talented, Banff and Lake Louise artisans.
In this year of uncertainty, we're all seeking that sparkling sensation of Christmas spirit. "In Search of Christmas Spirit" is a new and original, walk-through Christmas story, told by the wildlife of Banff National Park, and delivered through a sensory experience of light and sound. As we all need to work together to keep our communities safe this holiday season, this year's live experience is reserved for those who live in the Bow Valley. We hope, however, that these lights warm your heart no matter where you are, and we're looking forward to welcoming you and your family to see and feel it in person at Christmas times yet to come.
Have you ever seen a lynx? If so, think yourself lucky! This elusive cat prefers to avoid the spotlight while hunting in the shadow of the night. While other carnivores like coyotes and wolves aren't picky with their food, lynx only have eyes for snowshoe hare - wherever they hop, the lynx will follow! Packed winter trails make it easier for competing predators to hunt the lynx's primary source of food. Help protect this rare and magnificent creature by staying on designated trails and keeping dogs on leash at all times. Photo: IG/colleengaraphoto
