Thank you to the The The Vancouver Sun for featuring us in this front page article about the need for monetary donations for our programs supporting newcomer refugee children and providing volunteer/employment opportunities for immigrant/refugee youth. Introducing Newcomers to Notes" - free for newcomer refugee children to learn piano & music literacy and increase social connections with peers in a fun environment. Open to 7-14 year old children who've arrived to Canada as refugees / refugee claimants. This program, designed & facilitated by UBC students, is offered in partnership with Chapman and Innovation Grant through the UBC Centre for Community Engaged Learning. Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this summer and into the new season
A big shoutout to our staff and volunteers for their hard work this summer transitioning our camp to an online platform. Even with this challenge we have still been able to help over 40 families!
Thanks to our wonderful donors we were able to provide 23 children with electronics essential for our virtual classes! #vancouverstrong #techdrive
We need your help with continuing to educate newly arrived children in BC! Monetary donations from people like you allow our organization to run. Link in the bio to donate today.
TODAY IS THE DAY! Our first day of teaching is a perfect opportunity to give more details about BCNewcomer Camp. We offer a free program for newcomer refugee children which is being delivered online for summer 2020 due to Covid-19. Camp participants who need a device will be given one (to keep) to participate in the program, helping them, and their families. Our camp eladers are fluent in first languages of our participants (Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, Somali and Tigrinya) to ...deliver the curriculum in a fun and effective way. The camp curriculum includes comprehensive English language education, nutritional education, games and learning about Canada! If you would like to follow our journey this summer, please stick around and SHARE OUR PAGES. The more engagement we have the better chance we have for providing these camps for as long as possible and to other places around Canada. Thank you for your support.
