NOW ON PLUGGED IN! Our research series continues! In this episode we are joined by Nephrologist and researcher, Dr. James David Lan. He received a three-year... health research grant that commenced in January 2020. Dr. Lan’s collaborative research project is a bench to bed research project that will include human critical trials! Dr. Lan discusses what a bench to bed concept is and how collaboration plays a role in this research project. Then meet Sid Adams, a kidney patient who was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease at the age of 30, and Karen Coons, Sid's family friend who became his living donor. Sid and Karen just celebrated their 3rd kidney anniversary and they share their personal stories and the story of how their life-long family friendship saved Sid's life. https://youtu.be/S67qP8A9qok #KidneyPLUGGEDIN #kidneyresearch

In light of cold and flu season, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the BC Renal Hemodialysis Committee currently recommends against non-essential travel for hemodialysis patients, in or outside of British Columbia. At this time, hemodialysis programs and units across BC may choose to not accept travelling HD patients, either from within or outside of BC, in order to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus. For more information, please refer to "BC Phase 2" within this document, Guideline: Travelling HD Patients & Visitors to HD Units During COVID-19 Pandemic: http://ow.ly/Qm9g50BOQXY #COVID19BC #BCRenalNetwork #Hemodialysis The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch PKD Foundation of Canada
