ADOPTION PENDING! 'Barry' and 'Lucian' are a bonded pair of brothers whose owner was not able to care for them anymore. They are seeking a new home together. Barry is the attention seeker and likes to cuddle but can be shy initially and take time to show this side of his personality. Lucian is the talker of the two and more of an active guy. They both are fairly young at just 1 year old,so full of beans and very playful.... To apply please visit adopt.spca.bc.ca and fill out an application Barry 525764 Lucia 525765 *due to a technical glitch these two are not showing currently on the adoption site.

We received a little update on a giant puppy that had recently been adopted from us. Lilo (now Bella) was fearful girl transferred to us from our BC SPCA North Cariboo District Branch and she quickly found a wonderful forever home. We look forward to more updates as this "little" lady grows up! "Hi everyone, just a thank you again for bringing us our beautiful baby girl Bella (previously Lilo), she is doing great. Her confidence is increasing, and she is settling in more every day."

Luke' and 'Duke are a bonded pair of big boys! They are seeking a fairly experienced home as Luke is very skittish and relies on Duke to earn trust. Duke is more relaxed and enjoys head/body petting. He will approach when offered a treat. It seems like Luke was fed too many treats and needs a more balanced diet. To apply please visit https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/pet-adoption-applications/

Strychnine, compound 1080 and sodium cyanide are currently legal to use in Canada on animals like wolves, coyotes and bears. These dangerous poisons cause intense suffering and pain, including uncontrollable seizures before death by asphyxiation hours or days later. Although it’s illegal under the BC Wildlife Act to use these poisons without a permit, they are used in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and have still shown up in B.C. killing wildlife and pets! Now is your chance to speak out as a special review of these three poisons is underway this spring by Health Canada. Learn more: https://spca.bc.ca/.../bc-spca-urges-canadians-to-take.../

This adorable wee fellow is looking for his "furever" Valentine! You will most often see him out and about. He loves his daily treats and he is really good at digging tunnels and is very speedy! Changing up his enclosure leads to lots of fun exploring. He is looking for an experienced family to call his own. Could he be the perfect tiny squeak for you? https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/pet-adoption-applications/

I'm Luke Skyhopper. I am a young and relaxed rabbit looking for a fun and social home. I am very curious and love to explore. I am a good boy and use my litter box appropriately. I enjoy my daily veggies and treats. It is unknown what I would be like with other animals in the home, but with my laid back personality, staff think I could potentially become a good bunny buddy for another rabbit - with proper introductions of course! To apply to meet please submit an application https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/pet-adoption-applications/

Coyotes are common sights in cities across BC. Here are some simple things we can do to avoid conflict with coyotes, and insure they do not lose their natural wariness of humans: https://spca.bc.ca/news/co-existing-with-coyotes/

Like the mythic bird, 'Phoenix' has risen from the ashes. This big, beautiful boy survived a recent fire at a business where he lived. He is now seeking a family home where he will be kept indoors only. He needs a quieter environment as he can be nervous of certain loud noises. On occasion, he is known to give gentle love bites. He's not fond of being picked up and prefers to be the only cat in the household. Phoenix can be vocal and playful at times. To apply please click on the link adopt.spca.bc.ca

For many, Halloween is a time for candy, fun, and fireworks. For animals, it can be one of the most frightful nights of the year. We caught up with one of our Night Emergency Officer’s to discuss her experience working on this busy night of the year and share some tips for pawrents on how to keep their pets safe! We were thrilled to get the following update. Hedgehogs are unusual pets and need a lot of special attention to ensure their needs are being properly met. Our little Honey (now Hedgwig) found a fantastic home with hedgehog experience. "Hi there, Thought I’d drop you a note to give you and update on Honey the hedgehog that I adopted in July.... We have renamed her Hedgwig. She’s been doing well and she does some some issues that we have worked through and found out what worked for her. And we are 95% sure she is blind, but she gets around well using her other senses. She has been a great addition to our home and at the time of adoption, we were told she had had 4 homes in 4 years and I can guarantee that this will be her last one - she’s not going anywhere. We accept her quirks / challenges and embrace them and work with them. She does love having little baths, and that’s good since she’s a pretty messy little gal."

Diesel is an outgoing dog with a big personality. Diesel could use some work on his manners but settles down after awhile. He's friendly, affectionate and a bit of an excitable, jump up on my people kind of boy. For this reason, it's recommended there be no small children in his home as well as, no other pets. Diesel will require proper and slow introductions to other canines but must be the only pet in the home. He's a bit of an attention seeker and has separation anxiety and can be vocal. Diesel is not a dog that will be suitable for off leash walking or parks. https://adopt.spca.bc.ca/

"We celebrated our 5 year Cativersary this weekend. Just wanted to let you know this cat is amazing! You call them rescues, and should know how fitting it is, he rescues me everyday in his own little way. I couldn't be happier with Leo and will always be grateful to you and your team for helping us" Leo was an older boy that was overlooked at the shelter until finding his wonderful forever home, we just loved getting this update!

Cleo is a sweet, vocal and curious cat who loves affection and exploring! She is always checking out her surroundings and following you around the room. Cleo was originally a stray and was adopted recently. Unfortunately, she was returned as her new owner didn't have enough space for Cleo to explore or have safe outdoor access. Consequently, Cleo will need a home that is preferably a house so that she has lots of space to run around and with safe outdoor access such as a catio or out on a harness. Please note that Cleo is not a fan of other cats; she wants to be queen of the castle. If you're interested in lovely Cleo, please apply on the BC SPCA website today! adopt.spca.bc.ca Cleo #512757

"Hi there! I just wanted to give you guys an update on halligan, who I adopted back in June we moved to a new apartment and he loves it. His favourite things are sleeping and snuggling. He always tries to beckon me to the couch or bed so I can give him scratches haha. He comes to the door when I get home, just like a dog! He is such a handsome, funny and unique gentleman who makes friends with anyone he meets. Thank you for letting me adopt this purrfect boy " We are so ecstatic to see and hear how well this sweet boy is doing!! When Halligan first came into our care he had been living as a stray and was severely emaciated and flea infested. He went into a foster home to get healthier and receive some much needed TLC before finding his fantastic forever home!

Every dog is special, with their own traits, there is none like the other. You know yours better than anyone! When facing a training challenge, it is important to recognize each dog's personality and what motivates them. That's why caring dog parents understand the importance of being informed and working with a trainer who understands their dogs' needs and uses humane training methods. Look no further. The AnimalKind team has a list of accredited trainers we recommend: https://spca.bc.ca/.../animalkind.../animalkind-companies/ (photo features Diesel who has an adoption pending!)

Ruby and Mia (formerly Fancy and Reba) are a mother daughter duo recently adopted from us. We checked in with their new family "Hi, they are doing great. They sleep together and love to wrestle in almost complete silence. Ruby grooms Mia quite a bit as well. Happy we adopted them together." We are so happy to see how great they are doing!
