Whattayat? Or Aloha. Enjoying a bevvie after a long day of mowing, walking, being stung by wasps etc. This is the best sour beer -refreshing! Tastes like grapefruit -6% -so caution is advised. #quidividi #quidividibrewery #summer #aloha #staycation #quidividibeer nlcraftbeer #whataview #irishloop #getoffthebeatenpath #stayhome

We are so fortunate to overlook one of these reserves -The Witless Bay Ecological Reserve.
Looking forward to tonight. What is your favourite? Con O'Brien takes requests.
Here is the live show. Tune in Con O'Brien
During this pandemic lots of great muscians are keeping us entertained. One of them is my good friend Con O'Brien of the Irish Descendants. Con is a great performer -singing and regaing us with stories. Tune in most nights @ 8pm NL time ( 6:30EST). I think of him as Artist in Residence, since Birchy Hill is his winter home.
Earth Day is a good day to reflect on how fortunate we are in Newfoundland. We enjoy rugged beauty and relatively pristine waters -as seen here on today's hike. We cannot be complacent. We have learned the world is a small place and we must all work together whether its Covid19 or climate action. We are all neighbours.
Is that a genie escaping from spout? Actually, it looks more like jaws today! Every spew is different and mesmerizing. The spout overland hike is a great way to social distance and gain a little zen.
Winter is forgotten as we listen to the soothing sounds of spring. It is a perfect morning -you can even hear the trickle of fast melting snow.
Merry Christmas from our cottages to your home. May your Christmas be Merry and Bright and your New Year Joyful throughout.
Merry Christmas from Bears Cove Cottages. Thank you to all who joined us over the past years. We have enjoyed giving you a home away from you while you enjoyed your vacations. May your Christmas be merry and bright.
Always a great pre-Christmas event in St. John's!
Fantastic Fall day in NL which I took advantage of to stain and gussy up Birchy Hill cottage for 2020 rental season. I really love this green and blue combo. Who else uses gussy up? Also decided time to get over my discomfort with heights - 20 ft aloft and feeling pretty pleased with myself.
An extraordinary sight.
Another gem of an outing when staying with us. This time Placentia, about 90 minutes from us. In addition to the Town of Placentia, very charming, explore Castle Hill a Parks Canada Site for spectacular views. They also have a very informative exhibit about the history of NL fishing and commerce, emphasis on Placentia. The highlight of this day trip is the historic site overlooking where the Atlantic Charter was drawn up by FDR and Churhcill, located in picturesque Ship Cove. An amazingly significant site complete with exceptional historical info surpassed only by its stunning views. @ Placentia, Newfoundland and Labrador
Stunning. Remember guests you do not have to do all the driving. Call Julie she does amazing tours.
Daybreak in Witless Bay. Pure tranquility! This is just down the road from Birchy Hill Cottage. Leave your windows open and awaken to the rolling of the sea.
Another favourite of ours is Lighthouse Picnics. We love it: the views, the people and the food. We go every season, usually more than once. ( Sometimes we bring a libation). Reservations recommended. @ Lighthouse Picnics
Happy Canada Day to all. And Newfoundlanders are relective on this Memorial Day, the 103 anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont Hamel. We are thankful for all we have.
Well I could not get to St Vincent's today but I did suggest to our guests to head there as the whales were in. SPECTACULAR was the feedback. And thanks to @cbcnl morning's caller for the heads up. Locals and visitors, head there tomorrow -an amazing experience
