TAKE THE TOOKER ride today, Wed., Aug 12, 4:30 pm from Christie Pits. We wish Angela Bischoff and the Take the Tooker gang a safe and successful ride today. (There is no Bells on Bloor ride planned for this year. We're enjoying riding on the new bike lanes, and continuing our call for a westward extension to Kipling of the Bloor bike lane and for additions across the city.)
Bike cookies for the first 100 riders of the Take the Tooker bike ride today! Complements of Aunt Elsie. And happy birthday beautiful Tooker! xo https://www.facebook.com/events/882880608869667/?active_tab=about
Thanks to decades of advocacy by so many (with a little help from the pandemic) for bike lanes along Bloor/Danforth, the Take the Tooker vision is becoming more of a reality with 15 kms expected to be completed by end of August from Runnymede to Dawes. Let’s celebrate! Join me for a critical mass ride to celebrate the new bike infrastructure on Tooker’s birthday
The Bloor bike lane extension from Shaw to Runnymede is now being installed. (First portion overnight, last night.) We will soon have much of the 21 km crosstown cycling spine that has been demanded for decades. It's taken a while: Bloor Viaduct 1.6 km (1991), Bloor pilot 2.4 km (2016), Danforth 5.2km (July 2020), Bloor extension 4.5 (Aug 2020).
Just in time ... we're running out of stickers. Sherbourne to Avenue Rd. bike lane section completed today. More to come.
Where is PHASE II of new bikeways? City Hall has approved 25km of new bikeways on a 5,600km road network -- far short of a pandemic recovery plan + the needs of transit-reliant residents. Please complete the survey. We need bikeways on busiest bus and subway routes ie Yonge! The need is urgent to avoid MORE air pollution, GHG emissions, road peril. https://s.cotsurvey.chkmkt.com/
