Kiddo opened the window this morning and exclaimed how beautiful the trees are, they seemed to have turned a beautiful bright orange over night. I love that he can pause and appreciate the beauty of nature and his surroundings, it’s something a lot of us need to learn how to do more of.

Today was a good day. Made a consignment pick up and then spontaneously went to the beach. No sand toys, no cooler bag, no swimsuits, no towels or chairs or pop up tent, n o t h i n g but an old Starbucks cup and my camera and the moment. It was freeing. Just the three of us wandering the beach, searching for sea shells and crabs. We got lost in the moment, and stayed long after I had planned. These are the days. Truly, these will be the days and the moments we look back on. Feeling nostalgic this week as my head swirls with the idea of my oldest heading to kindergarten in September. It feels like just yesterday he fit into one of these teeny tiny bodysuits. Feeling pretty grateful to call this place home. 2020 has been unprecedented in many ways, but watching the community come together, to support one another, to show kindness and to help lift each other up has been a reminder of what it means to be Canadian, a good neighbour, a friend. When small local businesses were (and continue to be) struggling, the community stepped up to support them, to hold them up and say we are here, weve got you. Ive felt the love through my own ...business as many of you have needed to outfit your little ones for the changing seasons mid pandemic, and you turned to my shop. Online thrifting may have been a new experience for you and hopefully it wont be your last. Adjusting to the new normal has been tough but Im grateful for the new connections, the support and the innovative ways we as a community continue to stand by each other despite the physical distance between us. There are many flaws and things we need to continue working on as a country, so that each and every Canadian has equal rights, feels accepted, love, and kindness like every human deserves, but theres no other place I would rather call home. This boy turned 5 this past month, and would have graduated preschool a few weeks ago. Hell be starting kindergarten in September, and gosh what a year for all these milestones. Ive been trying to get caught up with the kids yearly photo albums and, wowww nostalgia really does a thing or two to a moms heart.

We ended the long weekend with ice cream at the park and watching the local pilots fly by paying tribute to Captain Jenn Casey. The sense of community felt even stronger tonight during these strange times. We waited for the planes in the field across the street and as the clock struck 7pm, everyone stopped what they were doing to cheer our health care heroes and frontline workers. Patiently waiting for the planes to fly over Coquitlam, we danced, played red light green light ...and kicked the soccer ball. Then we spotted the first plane, and the second, and the third, and then the cheering started again. Every plane that passed by was met with applause and cheers. These are the moments I hope my children remember from this chaotic time. The picnics, the sense of community, lifting each other up and a strong family bond. www.bibandtuckerconsignment.com
