I close at 8 and I was still cooking at 9:30. I offered $11.00 off the price for my sale today so that would make one think that we would be very very busy. And we were. Screaming and yelling and swearing at us didn’t help a very stressful situation. There’s 2 of us here, one to cook your food and make your shakes and one to answer the non stop ringing phone and take orders, and that one is in a boot ! Only so much 2 of us can do. So I’m sorry some of you had to wait for...ever , we don’t like making you wait forever either but it is what it is and we’re still alive right? Steinbach was here, 2 of my favs, and look what they brought my spoiled old man MG? The drug of his choice ! He’s gonna be one happy crappy cat when and if I ever get home. Good news ! I’m running the same sale tomorrow as I did today! Please do not try to order on here or leave your order on my voicemail, we won’t get it. If you call and get voicemail that just means we are on the phone so please call back. And to all of you who waited patiently and didn’t complain ? Oh and the buy who tried to slam my unslammable door in a hissy fit?. Thanks.. I needed a good laugh right at that moment. Tomorrow’s sale: purchase 1 of my $10 burgers and get the second one for $5. One per customer. My $16 1 litre fruit shakes ( exception of strawberry) $10. Pineapple, Mandarin. Blueberry, Raspberry and Banana.

We are having a sale tomorrow ! Wicked Wednesday ! Purchase one of my $10 burgers and you can get the second one for $5! One per customer. And...we’re also having a sale on my 1 litre shakes! All the fruit ones with the exception of the strawberry one( I’m running low) which are regularly priced at $16 will be ..... $10! Pineapple, mandarin, raspberry, blueberry and banana will all be $10 while supplies last. And remember I’m only open from 4 until 8 during the week now. Hope I see some ice cream smiles tomorrow.

This time around this shutdown has affected my business in a much more negative way than the last time. So as a result I am going to have to shorten the hours at Blondies Burgers to as follows: Wednesday and Thursday 4 until 8 Friday, Saturday and Sunday 4 until 9. I’m hoping this is a result of everyone staying at home so we can get back to having our dining rooms open sooner rather than later because a lot of us won’t survive more than a month of this.

My day is over. Five hours of Door Dash orders. I can always tell when I have a new driver, not only do I not recognize the name of the Dasher ( that’s what they’re called ) they come into the restaurant without an insulated bag. Where’s your bag I ask?? Oh it’s in the car .. well you just go get it ok?? That’s ok I take the food and put it in my bag in my car... no no no.. you can’t take my hot food outside without your insulated bag. You have a Skip bag not a Door Dash bag ...in your car am I right? Yes I do.. well I don’t give a crap if you’re working for Skip and Door Dash and Uber all at the same time silly! As long as you have an insulated bag! These are hard times and everybody has to make a buck. Apparently some places only like these drivers to have their specific bag. Too many other damn things to worry about. Right kids? Like cats who puke on your boots! I’m having another special tomorrow and because it was so popular I’m going to give it to you again. So, some cracker box just made a comment on my business page Blondies Burgers for those of you living under a rock. He said all restaurants are a useless entity and should just be abolished altogether. I was going to post his name but people hate me for doing that. Haha! A lot hate me for doing nothing. Anyway, it got me to thinking... about what restaurants have meant to me in my long life. I’m older than dirt. It wasn’t so much about the food it was about the why and the wh...o I was with for the most part. My most memorable time as a child was when my dad took my sister and my brother and I to Winnipeg to the St. Regis hotel where his dad had taken him as a boy. All the same waitresses were still there. We were warned several times on the way from Carman to speak only when spoken to and to order what we wanted but we had to eat it no matter what ! The waitresses , that’s what they were called way back then were so excited to see my dad and he was so proud of his family I remember it like it was yesterday. I also remember that I had the best corn chowder I ever had in my life! Since that very special day I don’t even know how many hundreds of restaurants I have been to but I do remember why. To celebrate friends and families birthdays, milestone birthdays. My Parents anniversaries , my girlfriends heartbreaks, my heartbreaks, restaurants where I have dumped boyfriends and been dumped, restaurants where I’ve met up with a blind date and had to ask the server where the back door was so I could high tail it out of there! Restaurants I have gone to in other countries and have tasted their wonderful cuisine and met new lifelong friends who have shown me their cities and introduced me to their families. Restaurants where I’ve gotten to know the owners amd servers and have sat and chatted with them for hours every time I went to have a bite and a beer and when I walked in the front door I would be greeted with .. Sandy Doyle’s back! And most recently, I lost my dad last January so this spring and summer my sister and I have taken my mom who is 96 and hard to keep up with, to several restaurants in Carman and surrounding towns. These memories with my mom amd my sister I will hold dear to my heart forever.So restaurants of Manitoba and the world for that matter are 100% essential to my life. I hope you will take a moment to think about what restaurants have meant to you over your lifetime. See more

Tomorrow ... Friday October 2, is Frankfurter Friday! I didn’t have Weenie Wednesday this week because I had to close in the middle of the day to go to the dentist. So tomorrow there will be $5 off my $14 dog while supplies last! One per person please. I had to run home today to get my cake because it was Kim’s birthday and guess who was sitting in front of the treat cupboard. Who did he think was going to get some for him? Or does he sit there all day and half the night waiting for me to come home ? . Two customers came in at 3 minutes to closing tonight... they were super nice so I didn’t care ! Haha! Well hasn’t this just been a day for the books? Someone with the initials MG woke me up at 5:30 two days in a row pretending to hork up fur balls! Whenever he wants food and I won’t get up that’s what he resorts to because he knows I will leap out of bed for fear he will puke on my Wayfair area rugs. That cat. Bust day today. Saw firsthand how sad and lonely this pandemic has made some people. Can’t even give them a hug. Now my customers will all have to wear masks when they ...come in .. not sure what else they have in store for us restaurants. I’m still waiting for my email from my health inspector. Should have received it by now but I think the powers that be want to see what the numbers are after the weekend before they decide our fate. I have gone above and beyond what restrictions we were given that’s all I know. And.. Today was an extra special day here at Blondies.. some idiot decided to snort coke in one of my bathrooms so loudly everyone in the whole dam place heard! Why why why? See more

The end of my day. Hooray. Super nice customers today with that one exception. When you’re asking this much for a strawberry shake what makes it so special ? This normally would not have touched a nerve if said person hadn’t made a remark about me sitting down on the job. So that being said I told said person they’d never find out what makes my strawberry shakes so special because I wouldn’t be making them one ! Hahahaha hahahahaha! And on that note I’m scrubbing these flo...ors and going home to my pot infested building that smells like 1000 dead skunks ,with neighbours who wait at the front door for food delivery in nothing but boxer shorts and socks and a parking lot that’s so dark I have to carry two flashlights in my purse to get to to the dam front door. And then get greeted my a 22 year old cat who runs out the door and makes me chase him up and down the stairs! Oh my life. See more

The end of my day and the end of Weenie Wednesday. I think I sold 6 dogs and the rest were huge burgers . Everybody was starving today for some reason. Maybe the cold weather. Including Mr. MG. He got me up before 6 this morning.... feed me feed me feed me and is probably wasting away to nothing as I type this so I best hurry up and get out of here. Oh by the way we will not be open until 1 tomorrow. Dentist again. I’m working just to pay my dentist.

Thank you thank you thank you ! All of you and there were so many, who wished me a happy 30th anniversary. It was a day I’ll give you that. I hope all 30 who got a free burger enjoyed it! You were perfect customers and followed instructions to the letter. Most wore masks and waited patiently while I made 4 orders at a time. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly. It was after that that chaos ensued. So many orders and the Uber Tablet screeching, the Door Dash tablet dinging! It was crazy non stop madness until I ran out of food at 8 pm. Now it’s 10:25 and I have all these crappy floors to wash and I’m so tired! Oh well.. it was a great day for me , I hope everyone who who came had a good time. Stop talking Sandy MG is waiting! Until tomorrow at noon!

Thirty years in business and thirty free burgers!

MG .. gave me my fav..Gerber lilies. For my 30th. So so sweet of him. Would have been sweeter if he paid for them. I don’t know if 1 or 30 people are going to show up for the free 30 burgers tomorrow but keep In mind social distancing will be in force if there is a line up outside, and please wear a mask. We will be taking 4 orders at a time and just the free burgers, nothing else. We need you free loaders to get in and out as quick as you can to make room for the paying cust...omers. Haha! In all seriousness I’m happy I can do it. We just need to get this done as quickly as possible. Today was the launch of Uber Eats and let me tell you did it ever run smoothly. At least from my end. I’ve been doing this so long i can time an order minutes before it’s ready. So.. minutes before it’s ready I clicked on order is ready and like a genie out of a bottle a driver appeared ! Three times in a row! Fabulous! Let’s hope it continues that way. And on that note, I’m going to work out for an hour while MG makes spaghetti. Can’t wait to see how that turns out he has no thumbs. Hey kids. I do not participate in Le Burger week or whatever the hell its called. I don’t believe in paying a fee to participate in it only to have to come up with some kind of crazy burger to overcharge my customers to pay for the entry fee and what it would normally cost for the food. That’s just me.September 4th will mark my 30th year in business as Blondies Burgers. It feels like 1000. ......so to commemorate this milestone I am going to give away a free burger to the first 30 customers on Friday 4th. One per customer not one per order and they’re all to go.. out the door . You can’t phone in the order , you have to come down and be counted and be one of the 30. We open the door at noon. No purchase necessary just grab your burger and bye bye bye.

I can’t keep up with the roasting of the chicken breasts. Every since that psycho went psycho over what I charge for my clubhouses a while back.... she ranted and raved on my page for a day and then when I finally had enough and banned her she took it to her page and she and all her little friends called me every nasty name their teeny tiny minds could conjure up for another day... Over a ...... sandwich. Anyway , since then I’ve sold sooo many of these damn things so thank you crazy lady ! Hahahahaha! And they all seem to want a strawberry shake with them too! Well,kids, it’s almost 9 pm and time to get out of here and go home to you know who.. have to make a stop at Sobeys we have no food , well he does, he always does but I don’t and I’m starving, there’s nothing to eat in this place. Until tomorrow at 1.

It’s been a weekend . I’m exhausted. Even the girls at my friendly neighbourhood Shoppers said I look exhausted. Certain Facebook people exhaust me. Facebook is exhausting. Exhausting.. exhausted are the words of the day. There’s a new security guard at Shoppers . He’s on this Facebook page MG. He’s a fan of yours too. Everybody loves your sorry ass. Haha! I think I must be the only restaurant in this city that has a badass cat as a sidekick . Well kids on two weeks me and the sidekick here will be celebrating 30 years in business as Blondies Burgers.. only 20 for him, he was late to the party.
