Bluewater Hearing took their weekly team meeting to Canatara Park to discuss new enhanced Covid Protocols. We are working very hard to keep the patients and staff safe. We also had a little fun in the park
Christmas Greetings! COVID-19 has significantly impacted our community this year. Instead of the usual Christmas gifts and cards that we send out, we directed those funds towards community donations this Christmas Season. We have made a $5000 donation to the Inn of the Good Shepard. We believe strongly in the community and look forward to working with everyone in 2021
Ho Ho Ho, Nashlea just got a new Face Shield! Your safety is our priority
Our Office Manager Czarina is keeping things running smoothly this holiday Season! Thank you to Signia for the beautiful poinsettia
Our Hearing Instrument Specialist (Michelle) and Doctor of Audiology (Nashlea) are sisters, originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. In 2004 they opened Bluewater Hearing Center in Sarnia. They are both very passionate about hearing health and helping people hear!
When we are all 6 feet apart and have our mouths fully covered , it's difficult for almost anyone to hear and especially difficult with hearing loss. Make sure to let those around you know if you can't hear! #HearingHealth #LifeIsOn. Call 519-344-8887 for help
Our Fabulous TEAM working together everyday to provide the best customer service and care. Keeping the team strong means having FUN and supporting each other

Ontarian John Watters describes his recent experience with public face-mask use. Mr. Watters was born with hearing loss and says he adapted by lip-reading and moving closer to the speaker - both of which have become difficult with COVID-19. It's important for people, businesses, and institutions to find alternatives to better serve individuals with hearing loss. For example, Bluewater Hearing has equipped all staff with clear face shields and clear desktop acrylic guards so that we can still protect each other but also communicate without issue.
Very cool! A family from Mississauga have created over 5000 masks specifically designed with a clear vinyl insert to allow for lip-reading! Wearing masks removes our natural facial expressions and mouth movements which are an integral part of communication. This can make conversations increasingly difficult for those with a hearing impairment.
Happy Father's day to all of the fathers and father-figures out there! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Also, anyone else have a cheeky child who asks something more than once just to see if the answer has changed?
Did you know that the most common cause of hearing loss in young adults aged 30-40 is loud noise? The louder the noise is, the shorter the safe exposure time is. Adding a hearing test to your annual check-up is a great way to keep an eye on your hearing and continue protecting it.
As we return to social activities, here are some symbols to watch for hard of hearing or deaf individuals. Places such as theatres and churches may be equipped with additional resources.
A lot of things that help to improve our overall health actually help to improve our hearing health as well. Getting some exercise, quitting smoking, and managing chronic conditions help to protect our hearing. In addition, monitoring our hearing with annual hearing tests as well as wearing hearing aids if a hearing loss has been identified will protect the hearing we have.
With the weather finally starting to warm up, many may start adding swimming to their daily activity. Getting water in your ears is something that can happen at any time (even while showering or bathing) and can be tricky to get out! Check out some of the ways to get water out of your ears.
This pandemic has forever changed how we as health care professionals work. One aspect that we are very excited for is the opportunity for telehealth appointments. Sarnia-Lambton has it's very own healthcare platform, Corigan (www.getcorigan.ca), that allows us to reduce in-person contact while maintaining an exceptional level of service. In the past, telehealth was thought to be more impersonal than classic appointments. However, with healthcare professionals dawning face masks, face shields, and gowns/coats, telehealth provides us an opportunity to speak unobstructed and see facial expressions and cues that are otherwise eliminated by protective equipment.
With recommendations to wear masks whenever social distancing is not possible, it brings more considerations for hearing aid users. Looking for masks that have ties instead of ear loops might help to lessen the interference with hearing aids that sit behind the ear. Also having communication partners speak slower and enunciate more will help with the dampening effect masks have on speech.
We are so excited to announce that as of June 1st we will be starting a gradual re-opening of our offices! Services will be by appointment only and will currently not be accepting walk-ins. We will be contacting everyone who had appointments cancelled due to COVID-19 to reschedule them. Due to COVID-19, we have implemented some new procedures to our offices: 1. All patients will be screened for COVID-19 before their scheduled appointment and upon arrival for their appointment.... 2. All patients will be required to sanitize their hands upon entering the office and wear a face mask during their appointment. 3. Longer appointment times will be scheduled to reduce the number of people in the office at one time, as well as to allow staff time to sanitize and disinfect between appointments. 4. We will now be using Corigan for future consultations and walk-in services. Corigan is a virtual healthcare platform that has been designed by the team at the London Road Diagnostic Clinic for Sarnia-Lambton residents where patients can video chat with health care providers. Register at https://getcorigan.ca/ and join our office! If you have any questions about our new procedures, how to connect on Corigan, or about upcoming appointments give us a call at (519)344-8887, message us here on Facebook, or visit our website www.bluewaterhearing.ca We hope to see you soon!!
Big thank you to Windover Nurseries for our beautiful planter refill that was dropped off this afternoon! #supportlocal #shoplocal #smallbusinesses
Dealing with hearing loss during COVID-19 adds an additional layer of stress to this already stressful time. Even though it feels like places and businesses are returning to normal, it's still a good time to learn a new skill, catch up with close family, and stay connected with friends.
