Thinking about a trip to PEI for some Bluefin Tuna action....give us a call or message us and we’d be happy to help look after your booking details. These pics are from one of our many adventures with our good friends The Sears Brothers @seabrosfishing ...always a time and we can’t wait to put Covid behind us all and get back to normal! #pei #bluefintuna #sportifishing #godscountry #bucketlist #canada #christmasgifts #forthatapecialsomeone

We’re back with another Tag a Tiny recapture! This juvenile bluefin tuna was tagged and released in August 2011 by Capt. Mark Cook and mate Ron Hakala (pictur...ed), FV Carol Jane, off of Chatham, MA. Capt. Mark estimated its weight as 100lbs and 55 inches CFL. At that size, bluefin are close to entering "puberty". The fish, which was a male, was recaptured just south of Malta in the Mediterranean on Nov 19, 2020, and at harvest by the trap owners, weighed 1,016lbs and measured111 inches CFL! Thanks so much to Orestes Hidalgo Huertas, (pictured) fisheries observer for the Malta trap harvest, for reporting the tag information, and to @thebillfishfoundation for relaying the information. Before Tag a Tiny, US fisheries managers had little idea that juvenile bluefin tuna supporting our recreational fishery were being harvested as giants in the Mediterranean. But numerous tag recaptures since Tag a Tiny 's inception (in 2006) confirm this pattern. We plan on continuing our co-op tagging program for as long as we can. Thank you for your support! @ Large Pelagics Research Center
