Cabot Trail Biker 13.11.2020

I haven’t seen many #mottoguzzi bikes around at all. Great chat with a guy out for a rip in the warm weather to do another oil change and store her. It’s an ‘83. 1000 cc, which is huge at that time. Automatic with Hi and Lo. A clutch only for starting as a safety for those in a habit to rev, as the bike stays in hi or lo. Get this, hydraulic braking that sends braking to the front marginally. Actual lifters so it sounded nice at idle. Changed his oil and cleaned out the pan and it runs like a top. Interesting bike for sure!

https://youtu.be/ep5VMrxdfTE I spoke to the work crew a couple years ago when they started the early ditching and bushwhacking around MY Cape Smokey (I say 'MY' because it's my favourite, favourite part of the Trail). They told me they were going to leave the serpentine part in and I always wondered if they were just full of shit. But look at it! It's unreal! And it was done during crappy 2020 and all you visitors don't even have to put up with construction delay on such a t...echnical part of the Trail. Thanks again for the great work on the drone, my buddy Kevin Camus. This is a nice, consistently steep grade, so it's the climb that you pat your tank at the top, cause your bike, no matter the size, worked hard right to the end. 2021 can't come soon enough! Great job construction crew for doing such a great job in a challenging place to work! See more

A lot of riders stay in touch after they visit the Cabot Trail. I even met a lifelong friend now, who had 1,500 miles total riding experience (bought a bike and learned how to ride it and came right to the Trail from Mass.) He took a pic of my shirt on his bike in every continental state, within 4 years! This is Roger Bell that has a pretty cool backdrop for my shirt! He and his wife Cynthia's ride has great photos of Big Bend with some interesting commentary. Thanks Roger and Cynthia for sharing! https://ridebigbend.tumblr.com/

En francais, svp! Two years ago! What a fun day with a new friend. I've really missed meeting bikers this summer. Facebook has really helped me keeping friends be friends and not just memories! How many of you have I met while you were here? https://www.facebook.com/watch/

Remember that April Fools Article about the Cabot Trail being closed to bikers? Well, it sure made me sick of telling people it was a joke... but out of it born a new friendship. This is Zac Kurylyk. He’s the moto journalist that scribed that piece of work and many real ones over the years. When I invited him to join me this year for my 9/11 Ride, it ended up he was just another great friend helping me out this year. This photo is the rainy day we met in the spring of 2019. Next post has a great read about the ride. Can’t wait for him to experience a ‘real’ one!
