Hello everyone! We just want to pass you all some info for seasonal maintenance before winter hits us. 1) Shut off and drain the hose bibs. This is a requirement as the water supply lines to the outside have a potential to freeze and bream or develop leaks!... 2) Blow out the irrigation system lines. As the same as the hose bibs - we don't want these lines to freeze with water inside so have them blown out before temperatures drop below freezing! 3)Service the Humidifier. This one we see way too often... Humidifiers that are plugged with mineral deposits don't work! Take out the interior evaporator pad of the humidifier and throw it away and go get a new one. DON'T use CLR or any other chemical cleaner to remove the deposits as is will simply just deteriorate the evaporator pad component. Now is a good time to drain your outside water taps if you haven't already, before the winter season. Here is what you do... 1) locate outside water supply line shut off valve and turn it off. 2) go outside and open exterior valve. 3) go back inside and open the bleed screw and drain back about a cup of water. ... 4) close up all valves. Some homes may be equipped with Frost-free or Freeze Resistant style outside water taps. These valves are intended to self drain and do not require maintenance.
