December is almost here... and as we walk around the Cascades (RRRO) it’s starting to look quite festive... This morning we saw kids giggle while sliding down a community made snow slide. This afternoon there were so many families out walking around our pathways & adults hanging their outside lights on trees/rooftops. And the pond by us was being tested/shovelled... underway... What’s your tradition in the winter season? Or some favourite moments? We ALL need to find some JoYWhat’s yours

*I received the below email & thought I would share: Hello Dear Neighbours, As many of you know, we have BOBCATS stalking our neighbourhood they have been spotted in the cul-d-sac, on the fences, and just wherever they feel there is easy food access. Fish and Wildlife have advised that the BOBCATS have been spotted throughout Royal Oak and there is an unusual high number of them this year by nature they will not bother with humans, UNLESS the human comes between them and... their food source! The BOBCATS are looking for food usually small animals such as rabbits, squirrels, mice, birds and can possibly attack domestic cats and small dogs. When your small dogs are let outside, perhaps put them on a leash and go out with them..carry a broom if you feel the BOBCAT is in the same vicinity. Bang pots and pans, use an air horn or any loud instrument that will scare them away. Remove all bird feeders, open compost, garbage with food matters in it. The BOBCAT is attracted to grains, and grain fields Royal Oak is close enough to some of these farming areas. If you have open areas under your decks, deny them access, as this is a perfect place for them to gain a bit of warmth and shelter in the winter also close any garden sheds, tree houses, bushes close to the house foundation, these places all provide warmth and shelter. Let’s be aware of their presence warn your neighbours if a BOBCAT has been spotted while you are out walking your furry friends help to keep our neighbourhood safe. Fish and Wildlife do not come out on mere sightings being reported Thanks for helping each other out stay warm, stay well and stay safe! Thank you for sharing & written by one of our neighbour’s. https://images.app.goo.gl/WZacDgcicrEsiQSY8

As we move into August, YYC (and several cimmuniteis around us) have implemented new Face mask requirements. Do you know the basics of masks? How to select? How to Don/Doff (put on & take off) a non medical mask? Here’s the basic principles ALL in one post. With AB Govt & Calgary web links for more info. Let’s keep our communities / each other safe The Government of Alberta has provided The City of Calgary with 500,000 non-medical masks for distribution to residents. The i...ntent is for these masks to be available for Transit riders and other Calgarians who may not have the means or ability to access masks being provided at drive-thru locations (although these may already be distributed?) YYC’s bylaw will require individuals to wear a face covering in public premises and public vehicles. Unless the person is separated from others by a barrier or exempt. *Aug 1, 2020 is the start date. This is considered a necessary, recognized and effective method to limit the spread of COVID-19, thereby helping protect the health, safety and well-being of Calgarians There is additional information available at https://www.calgary.ca//covi/response-to-coronavirus.html With that said, here is some helpful information that can help you stay safe, and protect others by wearing a mask. This information is available at https://www.alberta.ca/masks.aspx Once you know & understand the basic best practices, you will decrease the risk of self contaminating. If you don’t ... you place yourself & others around you at risk. Temperature Check. How are youOn a dreary day like today, where’s your smile coming from? Sunshine coming our way soon! I was just on the RORR Families FB page & read a few comments regarding the new management companies (Simco) recent mail out. If you have concerns &/or questions, please email Simco as they a making every effort to make corrections from previous years (email address is on the letter received). If you have additional concerns, please go to the Ca...scades website & email your concerns there. The cascades Volunteer Board, wants to ensure we address our communities concerns, as well as work through the communication ‘Bumps’ we appear to be experiencing, while addressing the deficiencies that have occurred prior to Simco. *The Cascades BOD do not monitor Facebook. WOW... mosquito for the win this morning during our dogs walk Have you noticed in the last couple days, the number of buzzing beasts that just keep biting! ouch! I learned some mosquito info from the news this morning - thought I’d share. Saw this company in the news this morning (I know nothing about them - this is not an endorsement.) Let’s work as a community, chat with your neighbors, lets get better control of mosquitoes in our yards... they don’t fly far. I linked the ‘learning’ info from Buzz Boss website. These seems like ‘doable’ strategies that each us can do, to control the mosquito populations. Let’s keep each other safe. https://www.buzzboss.com//help-keep-mosquitoes-away-and-en
