The Chase River Boys & Girls Club decided to sponsor a CatNap kitty for a month and collected enough money to purchase several bags of cat food and some canned meat. Shown here in the photo is Kathi Baart, CatNap Public Relations Director, and Linda Janes, from the Chase River Boys & Girls Club, who helped initiate the project and got the kids and their parents involved. Several photos of recently-rescued kitties in the CatNap Intake Room were shown to the Boys & Girls Cl...ub and the kids selected Tank as their CatNap kitty to sponsor for the month. They will continue to sponsor him with monthly food donations until he is eventually adopted. Thank you Chase River Boys & Girls Club for your kindness by helping one of the many rescued kitties in our community! #gratitude #communitysupport #sponsor #rescuedcat #brighterfuture #CatNapSociety #Nanaimo #ChaseRiver #boysandgirlsclub

Would you like to help change the life of a rescued cat? If you have a small room (like a bathroom) and time to show a frightened/shy cat that humans can be trusted, please consider fostering. CatNap is based in Nanaimo. We don’t have a shelter so we need foster homes for all the kitties we rescue. And there are so many cats in need.... We provide the supplies and training - and the cat. In fact, we could provide more than one cat. Please complete the volunteer application form on our website: https://www.catnapsociety.com/volunteer-application #help #communitysupport #neverenoughfosterhomes #fosteringsaveslives #fosteringchangeslives #socializingadultcats #Nanaimo #brighterfuture #happilyeverafter #CatNapSociety

We received these details from the manager of Bosley’s on Bowen Road, who processed the adoptions on our behalf: Drake has been adopted to a nice calm couple which is perfect for him and Zephyr has been adopted to a very busy home with 4 kids and an older male cat.... Congratulations to both kittens and their forever families. #adopted #rescuedkitten #foreverfamily #CatNapSociety

Tiny Tora Tee has been granted her Christmas wish: she has been adopted! Tora will be renamed Nora, since her feline brother is named Taco and Tora/Taco might confuse the new siblings. She will also have a lepine (I have waited a long time to be able to use that adjective in a conversation ) sister. Congratulations!... #adopted #rescuedcat #brighterfuture #CatNapSociety

Adoption Update: Herbie (formerly Edsel) is very content is his new home. He absolutely loves treats and we’ve taught him a trick or two. He enjoys his own space but always likes to be near by or sleeping in my bed. We are musicians and Herbie also enjoys to be in the room and listen when we play. He has brought so much comfort and joy into our lives. ... Thank you, CatNap! You guys are awesome. Herbie is definitely singing a happy tune (or is he whistling?) in his forever family. #update #adopted #rescuedkitten #brighterfuture #CatNapSociety

Archie: ADOPTABLE at BOSLEY’S on BOWEN ROAD Adorable Archie and his siblings were born in foster mid-June. He is the purr-fect blend of friskiness and snuggles, beautiful with sleek, silky-soft black fur and adoring eyes. ARCHIE is the smaller brother. But his voice is anything but small, especially when reminding you that he wants dinner. His eyes are more orange and he has a distinguished white patch. He is curious about his surroundings and even more curious about who is a...round him and when they are going to give him food. Archie will melt you with his eyes, waiting for love and attention, before he is back to playing with his toys. Archie is a gentle soul. When he’s tired from playing, he’ll head to his happy place, which is usually snuggled up in a basket full of linens with a sibling. Archie loves wet meat and Temptations, in addition to kibbles. His favourite toys are crinkle balls and anything with feathers. He has very good bathroom manners. Archie lived with a several cats and an easy-going dog in his foster home. He would be best suited for a family that will keep him busy AND snuggled. With proper introductions, he would do well with gentle children, other friendly cats or cat-friendly dogs. At first, Archie may seem shy but it won’t take long for him to settle into his new family. Archie was diagnosed with a small hole in their hearts, causing a heart murmur. He’s had an echocardiogram done and his heart is compensating well, but it has been recommended that he undergo a repeat echo in about 6 months time, to confirm prognosis. Archie has been neutered, dewormed, deflead, tattooed, vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. Six weeks of pet insurance, and a health record card are also included. CatNap’s adoption fee for Archie is $325 each. The store manager will handle the whole adoption process on our behalf. Please respect social distancing and follow the staff’s guidance when going to meet the kittens. Thank you. #adopt #rescuedkitten #foreverfamily #catnapsociety

Eliana & Ezekiel: BACK IN FOSTER - WILL BE REPOSTED SOON A Tale of Two Kitties Eliana and Ezekiel were rescued from the same outdoor colony and likely are siblings. They possess contrasting but complementary coloring and character. Both of them are friendly and never show their claws. They can be hand fed and eventually come onto your lap for food. This will help to develop trust between you.... ELIANA, the calico girl, has a composed demeanor that will capture your heart and soul. She likes to watch you from a distance with a gentle, enigmatic look in her eyes. Her affection grows slowly. Once she starts to trust you, she will stay by your side, letting you pet her softly, and will respond with her ever-ready purring. Eliana loves food but she has a sensitive tummy, and has responded well to Royal Canin gastrointestinal kibble. Eliana loves to play with light-weight parachute cord and mouse toys. She is a precision hunter. EZEKIEL, the black furry kitten with a pair of bright amber eyes, is a happy-go-lucky gregarious boy. He is pleased as Punch with any toy, even just a piece of dangling towel. He will jump and roll over it and never wear out. He goes goofy for ping pong balls in the bathtub. A laser pointer is also one of his favorites. He appears to be chasing a phantom that he can never quite get a hold on. He will chirp and whimper but never stop the chase. Eliana is not hesitant to show her passion towards other cats. She purrs and lays down when the resident cats in her foster home come near. Ezekiel is even more outgoing; always eager to party with any playmate. Eliana & Ezekiel get along well due to their complementary temperaments. Together, they are never troublesome and support each other's social growth. They can be adopted separately, but are hassle-free, loving marvels together, guaranteed to bring joy to any caring home. These kittens are estimated to be 13 to 15 weeks old. Eliana has been spayed, Ezekiel has been neutered. Both have been dewormed, deflead, tattooed, vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. Six weeks of pet insurance and a health record card are also included. CatNap’s adoption fee for each kitten is $325.

ADOPTABLE: Calla Meet Calla! This gorgeous girl is ablaze with harmonious colours and truly magnificently vivid calico markings along with silky soft fur and beautiful big eyes. Calla is estimated to be two years old. She was pregnant when we rescued her from outside. She was an excellent momma and is ready to be a pampered, indoor cat.... Calla gets excited when you call or sing her name. She starts these delicate purrs while making tiny biscuits. Calla enjoys being around humans and enjoys sitting on her foster mom’s lap for love and affection. It took some time for Calla to reach this stage, so trust and patience are key. Calla is still getting comfortable with loud noises and fast movements, so she will need to start in a small room, where she can adjust to the new surroundings. While Calla is enjoying your affection, sometimes she gets a little too enthusiastic and may give you a gentle nibble or a paw. Calla enjoys scratch posts or any perch where she can sit and gaze, especially by a window. She is a neat and tidy eater with a love for wet meat and of course, Temptations treats. She has good manners and keeps her ‘powder room’ neat. Calla will need a quieter, adult-only household. She would probably do best as the only furbaby in her forever family. Staying positive and consistent for Calla will encourage her trust and positive behaviour, allowing your bond to develop and grow. This spirited and sweet soul catches on quickly. Calla was found to have severe dental disease with some fractured and damaged teeth. As a result, she had multiple teeth extracted including 3 of her 4 canine teeth. What would have been a very painful mouth for her, now has her feeling so much better since the dental work. **Please email [email protected] if you are ready to love this little lady forever. Calla has been spayed, dewormed, deflead, tattooed, vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. Six weeks of pet insurance, and a health record card are also included. CatNap’s adoption fee for Calla is $250. #adopt #rescuedcat #happilyeverafter #CatNapSociety

Eden: BACK IN FOSTER - WILL BE REPOSTED SOON Eden is a beautiful little black panther girl with gorgeous golden eyes. Almost 4 months old, this energetic and playful girl loves to chase her cat toys, try to catch the illusive laser pointer, and play and cuddle with her grown up foster sibling cats. She LOVES her Temptations cat treats and enjoys pets while she’s busy eating them. She isn’t a big fan of being picked up yet, as she’s still learning that she can trust humans. ... Eden was rescued from outside with her litter mates so they needed some time in foster care to feel safe and learn to trust humans. She will need patience, understanding and time to adjust to her new surroundings. Eden would do well with another cat companion to help build her confidence, but she hasn’t been introduced to dogs. Starting her off in small room will help her adjust to the sounds and smells of a new home. Eden was fostered with older children and enjoyed their company. Eden has been spayed, dewormed, deflead, tattooed, vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. Six weeks of pet insurance and a health record card are also included with the adoption. CatNap’s adoption fee for Eden is $325. #adopt #rescuedkitten #foreverfamily #CatNapSociety

ADOPTABLE: Bali Bali, with the butterfly on her nose, is a delightful tuxie. She is estimated to be less than two years old. She loves being around ‘her people.’ Bali’s foster mom says it is impossible to capture in words how amazing this girl is.... She was rescued from outside in the summer with a litter of kittens. She has been in her current foster home for four months, where she has been living with her foster mom, a 15 year old teenager, two other cats and a dog. Bali’s favourite things are Temptations, watching cat videos on YouTube, playing Mouse for Cats on the iPad, Temptations, canned food, playing with her mouse and her toys, and simply spending the evening in bed watching Netflix with her foster mom. She lies right beside foster mom, watching the iPad and enjoying the unexpected scritches under her chin and random pets. She has started rolling onto her back and exposing her stomach (when she’s sleepy and doesn’t remember that she’s still a tiny bit guarded). Bali has not interacted much with the other cats in the house. She doesn’t mind them but she doesn’t seek them out for play or attention. She also doesn’t mind the small dog; he’s very docile and doesn’t approach her. Bali still has trust issues. After spending time surviving and raising kittens outside, being cautious was a survival technique. It took a long time for Bali to feel safe enough to trust people. Now that this sweetheart has put that trust in her foster family, she has opened up to receiving and giving affection. The teenager in the home often startles her into hiding but Bali can be called out with treats. Over the past week, Bali has started joining the family in the living room. She is not a lap cat yet. Bali will lose progress temporarily in her new forever home until she settles in. With patience and love, she will delight you with her purring and attention, and continue to blossom. Bali would do well as an indoor-only cat with other calm pets or on her own. She likely won’t be comfortable with young children, who will overwhelm or startle her. Bali’s foster mom is going to miss their evening snuggles. **Please email [email protected] if you would like to adopt butterfly Bali. Bali has been spayed, dewormed, deflead, tattooed, vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. Six weeks of pet insurance and a health record card are also included. Today is National Cat Day (in a different nation), to raise awareness of cat adoptions. With over 370 graduates so far this year, and another 150 cats and kittens currently in our care, we wanted to thank the people who make this possible. Thank you to the adopters, who give our locally-rescued kitties safe, loving and patient homes.... Thank you to PetSmart, Bosley’s University Village and Bosley’s on Bowen Road, who host adoption centres and collect donations. And, when they heard that we were running low on kitty treats, put together a stuffed loot bag. Thank you to our veterinary partners, who provide care ranging from routine to complex. Thank you to our community, who donates, supports and encourages. And deepest gratitude to the volunteers who run CatNap: rescuing, transporting, fostering, cleaning and feeding, creating crafts for fundraisers, making keepsake blankets, writing our newsletter, answering mail, meeting the public at adoption events, and the many, many other jobs and tasks involved with running a charity. Here are the links if you would like to donate: https://www.catnapsociety.com/donate and our Wish List: https://amzn.to/2zgSRam or to volunteer, especially as a foster family: https://www.catnapsociety.com/volunteer-application If you would like to adopt a graduate (or two), please watch our social media (Facebook and Instagram) where we post the kitties who are ready for adoption. #gratitude #communitysupport #somanywaystohelp #rescuedkitten #rescuedcat #neverenoughfosterhomes #islandcat #CatNapSociety #nationalcatday

ADOPTABLE: Glen & Finlay These bonded buddies complement each other so well and will make a wonderful addition to the right family. Gentle Glen is laid back and affectionate. He enjoys lying near his foster mom on the couch, purring. Glen can be picked up and given brief hugs. Glen is finding his playful energetic side. He recently executed a perfect four-paw-in-the-air pounce onto his feather toy. Even Finlay was impressed.... Finlay follows Glen, and Glen’s example, in all things. When Finlay arrived in his foster home, he wasn’t sure if he could trust people. Watching Glen accept touch and smooches led Finlay to try it - Finlay now has the most impressive elevator butt and gives head boops. Finlay is the more energetic of the two, jumping to the top of the bookcase to sleep in a basket of stuffed toys. Finlay is still a bit skittish but he always comes to where Glen is, including lying beside their foster mom and enjoying her touch. The boys sing for their supper (and breakfast), enjoy playtime and quiet time with their foster parents, are incredibly tidy with their litter boxes, love looking out the window in their room and use their scratching posts consistently. They are wonderful cats. Glen is estimated to be 3 to 4 years old. He has silky medium-length fur, a plump tail and feather tufts between his toes. Finlay is approximately 1 1/2 years old and has a glossy short coat. These boys were rescued from an outside colony this summer and they show the marks of their former life. Both have scars on their ears from being attacked by dominant males. And both tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), which is transmitted by deep bites from an infected cat. FIV only infects cats and they shouldn’t share a home with non-FIV cats. Cats with FIV can live long, happy lives in a low-stress, indoor-only home, with good-quality food and regular veterinary exams. Glen also had some damaged teeth and infected gums, which aren’t uncommon for outdoor cats. He has had dental surgery and has recovered well. He eats kibbles, just like Finlay, although both boys enjoy some wet food as well. The boys recently had a vet check and have been cleared as healthy for adoption. ** Please email [email protected] if you would like to give these sweethearts the safe and loving, indoor home they deserve. The boys have been neutered, dewormed, deflead, tattooed, vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. Six weeks of pet insurance and health record cards are also included. Their adoption fee is $500 as a bonded pair. #adopt #bondedbuddies #rescuedcat #happilyeverafter #CatNapSociety
