Cedar Cottage invites you to a Seniors Benefits Workshop (in English and Cantonese). Join and learn about COVID-19 benefits and the Old Age Security and Canada Pension for seniors. The workshop will be presented via Zoom by Service Canada and hosted by Cedar Cottage Adult Day Program Staff. Please join us on March 9th at 10:30am. As we reflect on the meaning of Pink Shirt day, We applaud each and every one of you who stands up to injustice and brings greater kindness and compassion to our world. Our long history of the work we do at Cedar Cottage has meaning only when the staff, board, volunteers and participants share in our efforts to build a better community. We are proud to be part of this team. Here is an example of kindness and compassion in our Neighbourhood. Gladstone Secondary students created cards to be delivered to seniors in our community. Thank you Gladiators!!!

Happy Lunar New Year. It’s a time when we reflect with gratitude on the past and our hopes for the future. With so much sadness at this time due to COVID-19 it is hard to not be celebrating with our friends, families and volunteers as we are usually busy preparing for our Annual Lunar New Year Celebration. But we wanted to express new year wishes for our Cedar Cottage family, friends, co-workers, seniors and volunteers. In the Chinese zodiac, the Ox is a valued animal b...ecause of its positive characteristics of being hard working, reliable and honest. The Ox is intelligent and trustworthy and does not seek praise or need to be the center of attention. Oxen are kind, rarely lose their tempers, think logically and make great leaders. They put their hearts into everything they do and feel great responsibility towards family and community. So however you are celebrating tonight, enjoy safely and we will see you soon. Celebrated across the world, Diwali is the biggest, brightest and most popular event in the Indian calendar. The word diwali means row of lighted lamps, with light symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, prosperity over poverty and knowledge over ignorance. It’s a time for lighting diyas, laying out colorful rangolis, setting off fireworks, exchanging gifts of sweets and celebrating with dance, music and storytelling. Every year Cedar Cottage hosts a Diwali Celebration, organized by our volunteers and staff, sadly the Pandemic prevents us for gathering and celebrating this special day this year.
