Come join the team! SUMMARY: In collaboration with the Medical Services Lead, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for dispensing medications and assessing and providing appropriate medical care to meet patients’ needs and address patients’ concerns. The LPN performs these duties and monitors and reviews departmental activities in accordance with the treatment plan, established standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. The Nurse is responsible for ensurin...g prudent communication and documentation of nursing staff between the shifts. Multiple shift patterns are available. DAILY DUTIES: Administers prescribed medications and treatments within the limitations of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC. (CLPNBC). Ensures focused patient care is provided and patient rights are respected. Assesses patients’ needs with the medical team - plans, implements, and evaluates patient medical care and coordinates daily appointments. Monitors and reports changes in physical and psychological conditions of patients and documents this in the patient care record. LPN notifies physician of changes in condition.. Maintains all documents according to standards, regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring confidentiality is maintained according to facility policy. Consults with the Medical Lead regarding any improvements needed to the Medical Department as a practice of continuous quality improvement Liaises and provides assistance to physicians, Clinical Team, Support Staff, and required outside health care providers. Works with Community Support Staff to ensure that the orientation building operates in a manner that is consistent with the goal and objectives of the treatment program during those periods when counselling and administrative staff are not on duty. Ensures equipment and supplies are stored and maintained according to policy and procedure. Maintains an up to date knowledge of facility policies and procedures, particularly those concerning the administration and recording of medications, safety, and emergency procedures. Performs other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Current License with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC and be a graduate of an approved program from Practical Nurses Valid First Aid Certificate Ability to clearly communicate verbally, and in writing Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with the various departments involved in the patient treatment process Ability to collaborate and problem solve with other team members including counselling, medical, administrative, and support staff A commitment to creating a positive environment conducive to healing for both patients and staff
