Is this your cat? He has been hanging around a residence in the Lucas Heights area of Ponoka for a few days now. Quite thin & dirty. He is a young, un-neutered male. Please message the page if you know where he belongs.
Don't forget to get your pets licensed if you live in the town of Ponoka. Please contact the town office or Old MacDonald Kennels & Animal Services with any questions regarding licensing.
One of our vet techs, Heather, is a vaulting coach and Ponoka is the new home of her vaulting club! Check out this event if you think it would be something your children are interested in!
Interesting case of the day Little Luna accidentally got her leg caught in her wire cage, causing it to break her leg. In order to x-ray such tiny creatures, we put them in a tiny box and x-ray the whole animal. Can you see the broken bone on the x-ray? Dr. Kat sedated Luna and made her a tiny little splint. She will be on pain medications, cage rest and have her leg splinted for a little while. We are hoping so can make a full recovery, she is a very special pet to a little girl!
Things are going to be a little bit backwards at our Bashaw location while we finish up renovations. We are OPEN! Please park in the back and come through the back doors to our temporary reception area. We are excited to soon be finished renovations and show everyone around.
Today is National Thumb day! Some cats have extra toes and some have a thumb...or 2! Do you know what the name for multiple digits is? Do you have a cat with this feature?

Adorable Ozzy was in for his puppy vaccinations last week.
FOUND This handsome fella was found on an acreage near Bashaw. The acreage is recently under new ownership and the new homeowner said he had been hanging around for a couple weeks. He is a neutered male and was brought to the clinic today for an injured leg. He has no tattoo or microchip. His care is being taken over by Saving Grace Animal Society . He is very friendly and looks well taken care of! If you know where this guy belongs, please send us a message.
Had to share this awesome picture! Loki used to be a patient of ours before moving a couple years ago

HAPPY HALLOWEEN Let's see your pets Halloween costumes!
October is RVT month across Canada!! RVT stands for "Registered Veterinary Technologist". At Central Veterinary Clinic we employ 8 techs at our Ponoka location and 1 at our Bashaw location. Each of these people has taken the Animal Health Technology program at one of the accredited colleges in Alberta (Olds, Lakeland, NAIT & Fairview). These amazing people are more than just nurses; they are anesthesiologists, x-ray technicians, provide patient care, lab technicians, phlebotomists and so much more. They are the people who take care of your pets, horses & livestock when they are at the clinic for surgical or medical procedures. If you see one of these incredible people at our clinic or around town this month, be sure to thank them for the job that they do!
