A big thank you to Mc Donalds for providing the fire departments an opportunity to promote change your clock change the batteries in your smoke alarms. They have been there with us for many years and we certainly appreciate their continued support.
Remember to change the clock back Nov 1, as well as change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms are a sound you can live with. Drop by Mc Donalds on University Ave, Sat. 11-1 and receive a battery for your smoke alarm while quantities last.

Use a battery-operated candle or glow stick in jack-o-lanterns. Keep all decorations away from open flames & heat sources like light bulbs & heaters. Remember to keep exits clear of decorations so nothing blocks escape routes. Make sure all smoke alarms are working.(NFPA)

The Charlottetown Fire Dept. reminds everyone to replace batteries in their smoke alarms, Sunday November 1 at 2:00 am when they change the batteries in their clock. For the greatest protection, have working smoke alarms on every level of the home and in every sleeping room.
Cooking is the number 1 cause of home fires. It is critical that young people be aware of the hazards & how to prevent them. A skill that many teens don’t acquire is how to cook safely to prevent fires & injuries. Now is the time for them to learn the basics of safe cooking.
Halloween Fire Safety Tips
Always keep a lid nearby when cooking. If a small grease fire starts, slide the lid over the pan and turn off the burner. Leave the pan covered until it’s cool. Keep anything that can catch fire away from your stove top (NFPA)
