Here is my entry for this month soap challenge club which I call parading peacocks. The advanced category challenge was to combine both layers and drop swirl techniques as well as an added design element. For my design element, I chose to make an embed that ran the length of the mold. I used a heart mold for the bottom part of the peacock body and piped the upper neck-head portion that I ensembled together with soap paste. For the legs, I created thin, black soap strips that I placed in the grey layer along the length of the mold once the layer was set up. The peacock embed was positioned on top of these. Peacock feathers were created by alternating rows of teal/ turquoise /orange soap batters using squeeze bottles (drop swirl technique). Many thanks to Amy and To our sponsor Creative soap by Steso. happy soaping to all!

Green vein marble soaps! I didn’t complete my soaps in time for the challenge this month which was to create soap resembling natural marble stone. I achieved the marble effect using a combination of techniques including using high and low water content and in the pot swirl. For the veins I used a spatula to score the top of the wet soap then filled the depressions with different coloured soaps that had been swirled beforehand (in the pot swirl). This design was fun to make!!

This optical illusion soap design is a tribute to Amy Warden who is currently battling breast cancer while continuing to host the Soap challenge club every month. The optical illusion is created when the brain refuses to see the surface for what it is; rows of plain, alternating black and grey shapes with white ones in between. Underneath is a pink layer which symbolizes the ominous presence of breast cancer. Instead of the true image, the brain chooses to perceive a three-dimensional geometric pattern representing the beauty of life created by different shades of joy, sorrow and love. Thank you Amy for inspiring us with every challenge

Indigo mandala! My entry for the soap challenge club. My design combined different types of curls used in quilling; marquise, v scroll, heart scroll, teardrop, and scrolls. The colours for the curls were obtained with natural indigo and blue micas. Many thanks to Amy Warden for this fun tutorial and challenge! Happy soaping to all!
