Lacing builds fine motor skills and this version explores some basic shapes. You will need paper plates, cardboard or styrofoam trays, pencils, markers and a ruler. For the circle, I traced a round lid. An adult (or closely supervised child) will need a sharp tool to make the holes a knitting needle, sharp pencil or chopstick, for example. A shoelace was pulled from an old shoe for the lacing activity. Apologies I forgot to demonstrate a basic triangle

This is great. It labels all the things we teach our kids when we move from a place of authoritarianism (instinct in this graphic since it’s the socially normalized, adultist way to treat children). And alternatives in line with what we actually want to model. Found at The Gentle Mamma

This is a beautiful time of year to LOOK at nature. It is also a great time to practice LISTENING. On a recent hike, I heard insect noises over the wind and followed them until I could see the creatures making the sounds. Spend enough time outside to let your kids be curious about the world and encourage them to explore it with their own senses of seeing, hearing, smelling and touching. (Make sure to remind them NOT to taste anything without asking you first! )#storefrontforever

It’s Orange Shirt Day - a day to honour the children taken from Indigenous families and sent to residential schools. The repercussions of residential schools are ongoing. We are not free until all of us are free. Let’s educate ourselves and our children. When we know better, we do better. https://www.cbc.ca/kidscb/the-feed/what-is-orange-shirt-day #storefrontforever #orangeshirtday #reconciliation
