We entered the Moose Jaw SWCT League as defending champs with high expectations. Instead, we finished 1-4. Whomp whomp. As much as it's not fun to lose, we're ...really encouraged by the butt-kicking we received this weekend. We lost to a few underdogs, teams some might not "expect" us to lose to. And you know what, those "underdogs" have worked hard, they played well, and they beat us. We've been the underdogs who beat the defending champs before. And that's what makes sport amazing. Congrats to the teams who beat us for your stellar performances: Team Bloor , Team Ackerman Curling (congrats on qualifying!), Team Wisniewski (congrats on your second-place finish!) and Team Holland (congrats on winning the event!). We'd also like to give a huge shout out to the the girls who delivered us our only win of the event. Team Soika - Elisa, Alyssa, Madison and Claudia - played in their first ever ladies event and had their first ever ladies game against us. They may have been a little nervous stepping out on the ice, but they gave us a great game and had superb etiquette and attitudes to each other. If these girls keep it up, they'll start delivering a lot of "underdog" victories before we know it! Finally, a huge thank you goes out to the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre and CURLSASK for working hard to figure out how to let us play in a safe environment. And a special thank you goes out to the event sponsors, especially The Chopped Leaf Moose Jaw. It's not easy keeping a business running these days and we can't thank everyone enough for continuing to support community sport. See you in at the next event in Weyburn in two weeks! (Don't worry... we'll get a few practices in before then!!!)
