To reduce the risk of COVID-19 at the City’s recreation facilities, drop-in programs are being offered in timed sessions. This helps us to manage capacity limits and provide necessary physical distancing. Pre-booking is available up to 2 days in advance at Saskatoon.ca/leisureonline or by calling 306-975-2855. Thanks to feedback from our patrons, these changes are effective now: New sessions now open for booking at 9:00 a.m. instead of midnight each day.... Pre-booked spots will be held for 15 minutes instead of 30 minutes. If the spot is still unclaimed after 15 minutes, the pre-booked spot will be given to a walk-in patron. Get back to what you love and book your visit to a Leisure Centre or Indoor Rink today! Remember to wear a mask when visiting an indoor City facility. #LeisureCentres #Recreation #yxe #BookAVisit

We're taking a brief moment to thank all of our amazing City staff, partners, and contractors who have worked 24/7 to help residents navigate the winter storm. Whether you are out on the roads, in the office, or working from home, your commitment to the overall effort is invaluable. Thank you as well to all residents for taking the necessary measures to prepare for the storm and for their patience as we work to recover from this ruthless start to our winter season. Stay safe..., stay positive, and lend a hand to those in need. #YXE #StaySafe #WinterStorm

After the big meal, the late-night turkey buns, and leftover pumpkin pie, please remember to put your socially distanced Thanksgiving waste in the right place. Food scraps, soiled napkins, and dirty food containers can cause a real mess at recycling facilities and ruin clean recyclables. If you don't know where it goes or how to recycle it, ask the Wizard at saskatoon.ca/wastewizard. #YXEWasteWizard

All priority 1 roads are now passable, meaning there's a minimum of one lane open. Crews are moving to priority 2 roads. Drivers can expect problems at intersections. A minimum level of mobility has been restored on priority 1 roads. If it's absolutely necessary to be on the roads, make sure you have a larger vehicle with 4x4 and winter tires. #winterstorm #yxe

Saskatoon experienced a severe blizzard with huge amounts of snowfall and high winds creating drifting. Underneath the snow is a layer of ice from the freezing rain. This is an incredibly challenging situation and we are doing everything we can to get Saskatoon moving again. Streets are completely blocked with snow. Circle Drive is passable, but some ramps are not. College Drive, 8th Street, 22nd Street and Idywyld Drive have barely one lane open. All other Priority 1 streets... are blocked with snow. Transit is suspended and will resume service once Priority 1 streets become accessible later this morning. Service will be expanded as conditions allow. For updates visit saskatoontransit.ca/service-alerts Garbage and Recycling collection for Monday has been suspended. Collection has been rescheduled for Saturday. The Landfill opening has been delayed. For timely updates regarding service disruptions visit saskatoon.ca/servicealerts or follow us on Twitter @YXEServiceAlert.

Yard waste like leaves, branches, grass, and garden refuse can cause problems at recycling facilities and ruin other clean recyclablessending some of it to the landfill. Help us put organic waste back where it belongs. Throw it in your Green Cart or take it to a City compost depot (open until Nov 7). If you don't know where it goes, ask the Wizard at saskatoon.ca/wastewizard. #NotInTheBlueBin #YXEWasteWizard

We're putting everything we have at this storm that’s about 200 roadway crew members and contractor employees on Saskatoon streets. In a typical snow storm of 10-15cm, once it stops snowing, our goal is to clear all priority roadways 72hr later. We'll do our best to stick to the plan, but we're faced with a severe storm that's come in 2 waves. Right now, we're seeing some heavy snow on our priority streets, such as College Dr. and McOrmond and we're working to clear them to maintain mobility, in addition to our other priority roadways. saskatoon.ca/snow #StaySafe #WinterStorm

Although Thanksgiving will look different this year, with planning you can still prepare for and enjoy special activities safely this long weekend. Here are a few tips from the Government of Saskatchewan to keep your friends and family safe: Stay home if you’re sick It is recommended that gatherings be limited to household and/or extended household members only. Consider hosting family and friends digitally. Potlucks are discouraged and all served food should be plat...ed by a single person. Common touch areas should be frequently cleaned and disinfected. Wash or sanitize your hands often. See City service updates for Thanksgiving Day, Monday, October 12, 2020 here: https://bit.ly/3lrHOgL See more
