It's another "Plants We Dig" feature! Jade plants, also known as crassula ovata, are a succulent variety native to South America. In Ontario, your jade plants will thrive outdoors during the warm summer months. Bring them indoors for the cool spring, crisp fall and frigid winter. Jade are an easy to care for houseplant option. They prefer a bright space, with filtered sunlight. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight. The intense rays could cause your glossy leaves to b...urn. Enough sun is essential. Low light conditions will cause your plant to grow leggy and become top heavy. Watering your jade is simple. Allow the top layers of soil to dry between waterings. If you are questioning whether it’s time to give your plant a drink, remember this variety prefers to be under watered, rather than over watered. Have you ever wondered what the best plant is for your zodiac sign? It’s said that jade plants are great for Sagittarius (Nov 22- Dec 21). Sagittarius are busy, and require a plant that doesn’t mind being left alone. We have three sizes of jade plants available. 4 Pots - $5.99+tax 6 Pots - $15.99+tax 8 Pots - $29.99+tax You can shop our plants during lockdown: shop.colasanti.com Our team will prepare your purchase and have it ready for pick-up. All orders are prepared within 24 hours. Our team will send you an email when your items are ready for pick-up.

The beautiful Peperomia Watermelon is our ‘Plants We Dig’ feature this week. More common names include Peperomia argyreia and watermelon begonia. This variety is native to South America. It gets its name from the appearance of its leaves. The green and silver stripes remind people of a watermelon rind.... Our team recommends placing your Peperomia in a location with medium to bright, indirect sunlight. Too much light can fade the bright colours in your variegated leaves. Allow your soil to slightly dry between waterings. Water your plant once the top 1 of your soil has become dry. Hang your Peperomia or position it in a desk, shelf or dining room table. We have 6 hanging baskets available in our Garden Centre, $10.99+tax.

It's another "Plants We Dig" feature. This weekend we are talking about the unique Cylindrical Braid Sansevieria Plant. Another common name for this snake plant variety is African Spear Plant. If you have a busy life style and are searching for a low maintenance option, then search no further. Finding a cozy space for your plant should be easy. Snake plants can tolerate low to bright light. We recommend placing your pot in a location with indirect, filtered light. Allow ...your sansevieria to slightly dry between waterings. It is better to underwater, rather than over water this variety. Under ideal growing conditions cylindrical braid plants can grow between 3ft - 7ft long. As your plant grows you may need to tighten up their braids. We love that sansevieria have the ability to remove toxins from the air. NASA supported a ‘Clean Air Plant Study’, looking for ways to clean the air in their space stations. They formulated a list of air-filtering plants. Snake plants were found to remove the following toxins from our air: formaldehyde, xylene, toluene, trichloroethylene and benzene. We hope you are excited about this weeks feature. It’s another ‘Plants We Dig’ spotlight feature. This weekend we have been talking about two new graft varieties, the mammillaria vetula and rebutia. Many of our cacti come to us from our partners location, in sunny California. Sorensen’s Greenhouses specialize in cacti and succulents, growing millions of plants each year. Did you know that moon cacti are actually two separate plant species that have been cut and grown together? The technique used is called ‘grafting’.... The most common varieties are the vibrant moon cacti, also known as ruby ball cacti and red cap cacti. You may recognize them for their bright red, yellow, orange, pink and purple tones. Why do growers merge two separate cacti? The top plant lacks chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is needed to produce plant sugars through photosynthesis. Attaching them to another cacti will help extend their lifespan. Grafts are easy to care for. These drought tolerant plants don’t require much of your time. locate your cacti in a bright area. we recommend avoiding direct sunlight. allow the soil to dry between waterings. water thoroughly, allowing all excess water to drain from the bottom. Swing by and see what’s growing! We have two grafted cacti pot sizes available. 2.5 pot $3.99+tax 3.25 pot $6.99+tax Our Garden Centre is open daily from 10am-5pm Learn more about our facility at www.colasanti.com

We have been focusing on Low Light Lovables over the last couple months. It’s time to start discussing Bright Light Lovers. Coffee is a fan favourite. We have been growing this beautiful, lush foliage plant for over 20 years. Our coffee beans come from Costa Rica. Under the right growing conditions these plants can produce their own beans. I’m sure you guessed it, this is a sun lover. Locate your coffee plant in a bright space. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight during ...the summer months, when the suns rays are more intense. Coffee plants like humidity and a moist soil. Avoid keeping your soil 'wet'. Your plant roots will rot if they are sitting in a pool of water. We have a Colasanti Coffee Crop available. 4 pots are $2.99+tax. Our Garden Centre is open daily from 10am-5pm.
