Dr. Chris Lee (Civil & Environmental Engineering), Dr. Kathryn Lafreniere, and Dr. Ken Cramer have been awarded a grant in the amount of $66,765 by the Ontario ...Ministry of Transportation, under the Road Safety Research Partnership Program for their research project entitled "Mitigating Distracted Driving Based on Understanding of Drivers Personality, Motivational, and Mobile Phone Dependency Characteristics". Their research team is currently analysing data for a related project to study predictors of driving aggression. This partnership will continue to provide exciting opportunities for student researchers in Psychology to collaborate with researchers in Engineering to conduct driving research using a driving simulator. Are you interested in helping to test a new scale of measurement? Risk perception can vary from person-to-person, and from situation-to-situation. We are currently in the process of creating a new scale of measurement that will help researchers investigate risk perception, without losing the element of personal choice. We are asking for your help in testing this scale we need many people to complete this survey so that we can examine the reliability and validity of the new s...cale. Participation in this study should take approximately 20 minutes of your time, and involves responding to question items that ask about your thoughts and behaviours in situations related to recreational sports (e.g., skydiving) and gambling (e.g., lottery tickets). You will then complete question items regarding your personal characteristics, such as gender, age, and ethnicity. If you choose to participate in this study, you will be eligible for a draw, with the possibility of winning one of 5 (five) $20 (twenty-dollar) gift cards.
