#FanAppreciationFriday: Shona Valentine's Day is approaching so we thought that sharing a fan's love story originating from The Commodore Ballroom was fitting. It all began on our dance floor at The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' show in 2000. 20 years later, Shona and Marc are still going strong Read their full story below! ---... Shona had just turned 19 and was reluctant to go to tonight’s event, but it was a big opportunity for her friends who were in the opening band, Crowned King. With a desire to support her friends as they opened for such a legendary band, Shona made her way to The Commodore Ballroom on September 20, 2000. After a lot of dancing at the front of the stage during Crowned King’s set, the drummer Chris Lambie Lambert came to offer Shona a bottle of water, at which point she noticed a cute guy chatting with other members of the band. Turns out he collected set lists from Ska shows and was asking if he could have one! Shona offered this man some of her water since he’d clearly been putting the dance floor to good use, much like herself. After losing track of him while dancing through the second band’s set, Shona ended up bumping into THE cute guy again after The Mighty Mighty Bosstones hit the stage. They danced for the rest of the show, traded phone numbers, and 20 years later, Shona and Marc are still going strong! Together Shona and Marc have enjoyed tons of Commodore shows since meeting in 2000, and even went for a backstage historical tour for their 15th anniversary! With their shared love for our venue, they are eager for the time when they can safely return to enjoy live music again. For now, they are thankful that they found true love on The Commodore Ballroom’s dance floor.
