TCK’s painting exploration program wouldn’t have been the smash success it was without our FABULOUS artist facilitator, Jessi Hartig! Jessi is a skilled painter and sculptor who has dedicated herself to using art to help others. She is pursing a master's degree in art therapy and will be Canadian Art Therapy Association accredited upon completion of her program. Jessi currently teaches for Paint Nite by Yaymaker and has experience using art to work with adults, though she developed and coordinated an arts education program for children prior to this. Jessi has been awarded the American National Scholastic Silver Medal for sculpture, as well as regional accolades for sculpture in Ohio. We are amazed by you, Jessi, thank you for all you do!

Most of you probably know him, but we’d love to formally introduce you to the star of our shows, Douglas Leonard Hurst! Douglas is the Virtual Learning & School-Based Learning Coordinator for The Concerned Kids. Douglas says, I was introduced to TCK as a volunteer puppeteer for three years and learning to operate these incredible life sized puppets in the traditional bunraku style has been one the best experiences in my life. Since I have been part of this charity we have se...en more than 17,000 students in schools across the GTA and surrounding areas. It is an amazing experience to see students' eyes light up when the puppets hit the stage with topics that they are currently learning about and going through. TCK puppet shows are geared to get important conversations started on serious social issues and mindfully equipping our audience with the tools to overcome diverse situations to make wiser and kinder choices for a better future for everyone. Thank you for all you do for us, Douglas!

We thought we'd share some of the very important people behind the scenes here at TCK! Kristy Piper (better known as 'Piper') is one of our lead puppeteers here, and has been a part of the family for years. In fact, her first introduction to The Concerned Kids was when she was a student in elementary school at TCK came to her school for a performance! Piper has trained and performed internationally in children's entertainment and emceeing for over 15 years. With a BA Honours ...Degree in Theatre from York University and a specialty in puppetry, she left Canada for a life at sea. During her time abroad she was lucky enough to perform with Fisher Price Live, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, and the blacklight puppet show Imaginocean (John Tartaglia). Since returning to Toronto she has emceed countless events and joined the cast of the TV show Camp Cowabunga as a puppeteer. She is elated to be a performer with The Concerned Kids. Thanks for all you do, Piper!
