South Fraser Community Rail 03.04.2021

South Fraser Community Rail's proposal for community rail is proudly non-partisan. We have called for ALL our politicians (elected and hopeful) to put our passenger rights on the interurban corridor to use. Ours is the only shovel-ready project on an existing corridor that would connect the entire valley with rail service for people, all the way to Chilliwack. Yesterday, during an all candidate's meeting hosted by the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce, Mary Polak the curren...t BC Liberal MLA for Langley disparaged the suggestion that we need to use our passenger rail line, saying it would be "more expensive" than skytrain (an outright falsehood) and that it would be expensive to double track. We want Langley residents to be crystal-clear on the facts. The Master Agreement governing the interuban rail corridor guarantees the fair balance of passenger/freight use on the interuban corridor. The agreement (renewed in 2009) explicitly states that any additional capacity needed on the line to accommodate the needs of freight users will be paid for by the private industry that has currently enjoying been enjoying a free, unencumbered ride on the corridor that we too have the right to be using for passenger trains. Yes, this means if it needs double or triple tracking, CP pays for it. Are they are going to clamour up and down to share the rail as agreed? Of course not! This is a massive private corporation that has no interest in what valley residents want or care about. That part is up to us. This is why we advocate. Ms. Polak claims to have heard about this idea for years, and yet she remains grossly misinformed, and refuses to advocate for what our residents need most, which is a large scale shovel ready project like this, utilizing assets we already own. We are calling on all candidates of every party to stand up for the rights of the people of BC, and not cater to the special interests of large internationally traded corporations. It's time to #connectthevalley and we need YOU to help us call our leaders to action. Please watch this short 4 minute video and consider sharing it with your friends, neighbours, and elected officials. We are calling on the government of BC to reactivate our publicly-owned passenger corridor, the BC Interurban, utilizing state-of-the-art Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Hydrail Technology.... The Alstom Coradia iLint is a new German-engineered CO2-emission-free regional train and alternative to diesel trains in non-electrified rail transport, and has been operating in Europe since 2018. Powered by Canadian hydrogen fuel cell technology, Hydrail's only emission is steam and condensed water, while operating with a low level of noise. The South Fraser Community Rail will connect the communities from the Pattullo Bridge in Surrey (Scott Road Skytrain station), through to Langley, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. The passenger train will provide the much needed affordable alternative form of transportation for the people of the South of the Fraser region and beyond. Community Rail help solve our regional transit deficit by creating a Spine and Rib network, feeding the rail line with buses, and connecting adjacent communities to the economic hubs, developable urban land, and tourist destinations in the Fraser Valley. Passenger rail on the Interurban will connect with Surrey Skytrain at Scott Road and provide an extension of lower mainland public transportation that would then run from Vancouver to Chilliwack, protecting our aished and helping meet the targets of CleanBC. Want to get involved? Tell TransLink what the rest of us already know: Express Buses are NOT an inter-regional transit solution for the Fraser Valley! We have a better idea. #connectthevalley... https://southfrasercommunityrail.ca/express-buses-not-the-/

We are pleased to see this Hydrogen investment for BC, which will boost our energy economy and transportation sector. Hydrogen fuel cells are the clean technology of choice for the reactivation of South of Fraser passenger rail; the corridor just sitting there, publicly owned, and ready for a shiny new train! Lead the way, BC... #connectthevalley #CleanBC

The projected rate of growth and development in our region means we need additional options NOW, including regional passenger rail. We must ensure we are supporting self-contained cities and communities - and as many jobs within - so that we lessen the need to commute long distances daily. A community rail option south of the Fraser will give us an alternative to vehicles and buses, and support a self-contained region. ... Please sign the petition to make sure passenger rail gets the focus it deserves while this study is undertaken: https://www.change.org/p/premier-john-horgan-reactivate-int

TransLink is once again asking the Provincial Government for more of your public dollars. For what? We break down the costly model and ask the Provincial Government to step in to ensure TransLink spends wisely for the future. #connectthevalley

While widening #1 may be inevitable, it will take multiple decades, and by the time we are finished, we will be worse off than we are today! That is, unless we initiate an affordable and effective public transit option spanning our region, such as Passenger Rail. #connectthevalley

South Fraser Community Rail 03.07.2020

Ever wonder why transit service South of the Fraser is so poor? Part of the answer lies in how the region has been arbitrarily divided on a map, with no mandate to consider us as a whole. The other part is a chronic squandering of limited financial resources on over priced transit lines that don't serve all our communities.... We have the solution! Reactivate the Interurban #connectthevalley https://southfrasercommunityrail.ca/it-is-time-for-interre/

Rick Green describes the latest TransLink plan as a debacle that will cost taxpayers and transit users big. Please Like & Share if you know South Fraser Community Rail is part of the solution! #connectthevalley
