GOOD MORNING /// As you can see, our payment terminal had a pretty crazy New Year’s and is subsequently not doing so well. As a result will be asking people to please pay with CASH, or place orders online at cooksrestaurant.ca - thanks in advance for playing along!
NEW YEAR’S DAY /// First of all, we’re open today from 11:30-7:30. Secondly - brunch is a mood, therefore anything can be brunch at any time. This SPICY CHICKEN SANDWICH counts as brunch and it will absolutely make you feel alive. Skip the polar bear swim and treat yourself to something that somehow manages to be exhilarating AND delicious!
WE ARE BACK /// It’s been 9 whole days since we smashed our last burgers, but we swear we still remember how to do everything. We’ll be up and running at 11:30, cooking all the way till 7:30, today (Wednesday) through Sunday. This means there will be burgers on New Year’s Eve, as well as New Year’s Day!
SUNDAY BEERS /// For Sunday burgers, right? This tasty Pilsner comes to us from @strangefellowsbrewing - perfectly suited to wash down burgers and fries wherever the sun is shining, the wind is blowing, and the rain is falling. Today is special because all three of those things have been happening simultaneously! We’re here till 7:30, so get your orders in before then.

HEADS UP /// When the rest of the world has a long weekend or an extra day off, we adjust the schedule so that we can partake in the fun. BYE BYE BOWESY /// Today marks the end of the Bowes era here at COOKS - he’s found himself a position as a butcher, AND he will soon be a father. As much as we’ll miss him around the shop, we’re all very excited for him as he enters a new phase in life.
STAY FRESH /// Chris rigged up a more prominent display for our merch program, and it’s sizeable enough to display our selection of RAD BEER and CRAFT SODA!
GOOD TIMES ONLY /// Two days away from the shop had me in dire need of a FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH. This was that sandwich, and I enjoyed every last bite.

SATURDAYS ARE FOR /// Classic burgers, like this here double, go perfectly with beautiful September days. They also play nicely with RAD BEERS, and we’ve got plenty of those! We’re here till 9 tonight, then we’re closed for THREE WHOLE DAYS, returning on Wednesday once our batteries have been fully charged.
LONG WEEKEND /// Yes, people need to eat, so to help with that we’re going to be open from 12-9 today and tomorrow. However, COOKS need rest, so we’ll be taking an extra day this weekend to recover!
#TBT /// For some reason we’re all supposed to reflect on Thursdays, so here’s an image of a pensive Chris from way back when we were still renovating the place. It feels like a million years ago, but really it was a little more than two.
POP QUIZ /// How much cluck could a cluck cluck cluck if a cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck?
TWO THINGS /// These two are more than happy to keep you company while you crush burgers and fries on this beautiful day! Shiny Things is for folks looking for something hazy and juicy, whereas Simple Things is clean and crisp, just as a German bc Pilsner should be. Both were brewed by the talented team over @steelandoak - they only make RAD BEER, and these just happen to be two of our favourites!
TILL 9 /// Burgers just like this one are available till 9 tonight, and then we’re closed until Tuesday. Given that it’s 4pm right now, that leaves time for an afternoon snack, dinner, second dinner, a late evening bite, and a night time snack. By my count that means you could feasibly eat 5 burgers before the day is done!
HOT DIGGITY /// Just a friendly reminder that these exist, and that they’re delicious!
NEW RAD BEER /// It seems like every week that passes we’re getting some killer cans from some of our favourite breweries. This week we’re psyched to offer Melon a Trois a Gose brewed with watermelon, honeydew, and Huell Melon hops brewed by the kind folks @ilesauvagebrewing - if you’re seeking refreshment AND tons of melon flavour, then this is the beer for you. Also, that’s a contender for can design of the year, right? IT LOOKS LIKE WATERMELON!
FRIENDS FOREVER /// In simpler times, these two sandwiches being ordered together was referred to as the DATE NIGHT COMBO. There are no secret jokes here, it just seemed like couples would regularly order this duo and then share to prevent any possibility of missing out. Long story short: order a DELUXE as well as a FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH and then live forever without regret! The end.
SPICY P’S /// With the giant fireball in the sky turned all the way to 11, beautiful spicy peppers have begun making their way into our kitchen, where they get sliced by hand, pickled and then stored for future use. These ones were lovingly grown locally by @rockbottomfarm_steve and @pendleton_farm - two farmers who are both outstanding in their fields! We recommend adding some of these to the MESSY FRIES, and then washing it all down with a frosty tall can of RAD BEER!
CLASSIC FOR A REASON /// Keep it simple to keep it delicious; that’s what they say anyway. They might also say that you can get TASTY CHEESEBURGERS like this one until 9 tonight. There’s plenty of time between then and now to do the right thing and get COOKS to cook for you!
EXPRESS YOURSELF /// When we had @pukkainc speak together some hats for us, we decided we needed a hat that could communicate a love for COOKS but also that Vancouver based professional hockey squadron. Well, it’s the playoffs, and those skatey boys are trying to win their first round matchup tonight by scoring more goals than they allow. We’ll be watching while we cook, and we hope that you’ll be eating our burgers while you enjoy the game tonight!

FROM SCRATCH /// Several hundred pounds of local cucumbers - courtesy of @pendleton_farm and @tworoadsfarm - are sliced by hand and then get lovingly preserved to last our burger shop until the next growing season starts! Lucky to have such amazing farmers to provide us with these beautiful cukes!

MY LUNCH /// Something about an early bike ride combined with this overcast Saturday afternoon compelled me to commit to a BACON DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER dressed simply with mayo and onions. It was exactly what I needed, but now I need a nap! TWO YEARS /// Technically, COOKS celebrated it’s second anniversary on Monday, but #TBT is for Thursdays! This picture is from August 3 2018, our first day of business, back when there were only four of us to run the ship. Since day one we’ve been incredibly fortunate to have found amazing people to work with us - Jessie, India, Juice, Kir Dog, Lindy, Bean, Katey, Dallen, Leon, Caroline, Bowes - all rad individuals who’ve helped COOKS get to this point.
