JOIN US on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17th at 10:00 AM for a Virtual Travel Presentation: Bike & Barge Journeys Presented by EUROPEAN WATERWAYS. For over 35 years, European Waterways has specialized in creating luxury barge holidays on some of the most beautiful waterways in Europe. With guest capacity ranging from 6 to 20 passengers, a private barge charter is perfect for a group of friends or family. Every cruise includes gourmet meals, regional wines, an open bar, local transfers ...and the use of on board facilities such as bicycles to explore the towpaths, a sundeck to laze on, or a spa pool to relax in. They offer daily escorted excursions off the beaten track to wineries, castles, markets or to see craftsmen at work. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, these voyages allow you to travel in luxury without the strains of packing and unpacking, whilst enjoying a balanced blend of daily excursions and fascinating cruising. BREAKING NEWS!!!! After seven-and-a-half months, we can finally share a little good news for the cruise and travel industry! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States has given the green light for the resumption of cruising in US waters, subject to several conditions. Yesterday, the CDC announced a conditional sailing order for cruise ships, establishing a phased-in approach for cruise ships to return to service in the United Sates, and that’s... an important step in the right direction. Back on March 13th, the CDC issued a "NO SAIL" order, effectively suspending cruise ship travel in/out of US ports and in US waters. While cruise lines have been eagerly awaiting this decision and are anxious to welcome their guests back on board, there is a lot to do between now and then. There are many safety protocols and procedures that must be in place before ships can begin boarding their first passengers. We know many of you are as eager to get back to cruising as we are! However, it's important to note that, while this is a welcome first step in the resumption of cruising, there are other obstacles to overcome for Canadians. The Canadian government's travel advisories remain in place regarding COVID-19 - a level 3 advisory to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada and a level 4 advisory to avoid all cruise ship travel. This has important implications for obtaining adequate travel insurance, plus, there is the inconvenience of having to quarantine for two weeks upon your return to Canada. For now though, let's focus on the good news -- there as been little of that for quite some time.
