Finally a work week begins, I have so been looking forward to this, seriously, I have. I have not been able to offer classes for months, well, actually, a year other than just some help nights last spring. Between knee surgery last winter which seemed to take about 9 months to heal and other things going on, well, classes took a back seat. Work in the shop came very close to an absolute stand still this fall. So now, back in the saddle, which I hope continues through the year.... So i will be offering an intermediate sewing class on Tuesday evenings. This is for people who already know the basics of sewing and can use a machine and need someone to help them walk through the sewing pattern. I have several sewing machines available for student use. Class goes from 7-9 and cost is $20 and is on a drop in basis. This will start tomorrow evening, Jan 7th Social night will be Thursday evenings 7-9. Bring your project or just come to chat and enjoy some tea or coffee by the fire. Start date is Jan 9th All social nights and classes are held in my studio which is the yellow building behind the house. 6 Cumberland Rd. Smithtown route 860.

Spring has sprung, thank heavens for that as it was a long winter. A surgery in January slowed me down for several months but things are, at last, getting back to normal. With this time of year comes adjustments and alterations for semi formal and prom dress's, wedding gowns and many other things that require hemming. As always the main focus at Cumberland Corner is historical clothing and I have been very busy in that field as well with adjustments and construction of historical pieces. From leather breeches to linen breeches, to waist coats and frock coats and everything in the middle I have been working my fingers to the bone now that I back in the shop full time. So I thought I would post a few pictures of some of the things I have been working on.

A pair of 1780's mens breeches I made. These are made of 6oz linen, completely hand sewn with waxed linen thread. Pewter buttons are reproductions of historically correct ones.
