Years ago I bought a VW convertible. Just had to have it. I was three miles down the road when I realized what a bad decision I had made and how much it was going to cost me in the future to make it work. Trudeau’s offer to students reminds me a lot of that deal. Paying students not to work, using borrowed money, and then sticking them for the bill over the rest of their lives is a bad deal. When students showed interest in politics, one of the first things I would talk abou...t is that there is ‘no’ free government money. The government gets money from only one place - taxpayers. And the more that is borrowed, the longer the payments. All this money the government is borrowing to give to you (and all these new programs are borrowed money) will have to be paid back by you. And, at the pace this government is going in the hole, young people are going to be paying for this for a very long time. Really? There was nothing at all that could be done to encourage young people to take the initiative and create something that works for them as they work for others? Justin Trudeau took the easy way out one more time. This soulsucking, initiative killing, vote buying scheme is the last thing that our students need and the only thing he offers. If there is one thing we should have learned from this type of policy in the last 100 years, it is that it always ends in unrealized potential, economic disaster and poverty. It is one thing to have a rusted old bucket with no power and a slipping clutch struggling to go down the highway against the wind its much more dangerous to have it as national leadership. See more

We all know there are two types of music - Country and Western - but if you want a little calming in this troubled time you might consider joining the 33 million plus people who have listened to Andrea Bocelli in his Easter concert "Music for Hope: Live From Duomo di Milano," that reached around the world from the empty cathedral. It's on a pile of media, including Youtube. Take the 30 minutes - it will be good for your soul.

I need to recognize our great local businesses. They are all doing a phenomenal job - ag retailers, restaurants, our Post Office, mechanics, flower shops. Everyone is working hard to adjust to a new reality. Special note to Frontier Foods - Bryce, Sandra, Camille and Nicki. For two weeks we were locked down. We phoned in, they got the order ready, all we had to do was eat. Sure beats standing in line and fighting your way into Costco. And they even had toilet paper.... Local businesses are doing what they can to survive and thrive. The least we can do is to support them.

While my time in Parliament has ended, the fight to defend the fundamental right to freedom of religion or belief has not. I'm in Singapore this week for the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief high-level event. 70 global MPs from 40 countries have gathered to outline real, practical action on protecting the right to believe.... #Article18ForAll #IPPFoRB

Justin Trudeau's 100 days, 100 fails: On Sept. 18, Canadians were shocked by news that Justin Trudeau had worn blackface twice. Over the next 12 hours, a third instance surfaced in a video. A few days later, he said he couldn’t even remember how often he wore blackface. More hypocrisy and poor judgment from a Prime Minister who has lost the moral authority to govern.
