What a busy few days! Crane Day Monday, TMA moorings on Tuesday, Zephyr and Zodiac out Wednesday, Deep Obsession and Big Blue out today!! Another successful Scrub the Tub! Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help us clean the harbor in and out of the water. We had a beautiful day followed by an awesome presentation by David in honor of the PADI project AWARE week. We hope to see you all again next year!

Today is #Worldcleanup day! It also happens to be #PadiAwareWeek from September 19-27. On September 25th, Divers Den is taking action to clean up the beautiful waters of Tobermory, as well as raise awareness of the problems caused by mismanaged waste. Help us clean up the harbor by participating to the "Scrub the Tub" event, followed by a Project Aware presentation at the Divers Den Training Center. Divers and non divers alike are welcome! Divers can join the cleaning team a...nd pick up litter at the bottom of the harbor. Air fills and gear rental is provided if needed. Non divers can join the surface team and assist divers, as well as pick up litter around the harbor. Meet us at 3pm at the Divers Den shop (3 Bay Street). The Project Aware presentation is an introduction to Project AWARE as a global movement for ocean and lakes protection. It focuses and expands on the 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet. Through interactive discussions, you’ll learn how you can make a difference for ocean protection every time you dive or travel. A dry, ‘fins off’ course, this workshop is ideal for divers and non divers alike to gain insight into how decisions above and below the surface impact our water planet. Meet us at 6:30pm at the Divers Den Training Center (8 Bay Street). We offer the Project Aware Specialty certification to the first 10 people signing up for the event. As of today, face masks are mandatory in all public indoor spaces in Grey Bruce. This is not new for many of the businesses but is for others. We have been working hard to keep our customers and visitors safe during these unique times. As you visit us and the other businesses in Tobermory, please be kind to all workers enforcing the rules. For those of you wondering what Crane Day is all about... here’s a time lapse!

I’ve been saying it for weeks When I know, you’ll know. So, here’s what I know... Tobermory diving is open for June 1!!! But here’s the facts (yep, there’s a BUT) 1) BOAT DIVING ONLY 4 divers to a boat to adhere to provincial guidelines (The Park is open to permitted operators ONLY at this time) 2) NO TUGS, LIGHTHOUSE or LITTLE COVE these are still closed until further notice by Parks/Municipality. Please adhere to these regulations. We work closely with Parks and the Municipality and ask you to respect the rules put in place. You don’t have to agree with them, but we do expect you to follow them. 3) POLICIES WILL BE IN PLACE to protect our staff, customers and town. You will be notified of them and you will be expected to follow them. Other than that, our booking calendar will be open soon! Keep an eye on Facebook for further announcements! LET’S GET WET!!!

The boats are in! Crane Day was a success but man, is this ever one for the books. We're used to rain, snow, shoveling ice off the boats... but this time we had plenty of heat and sun! Oh, and COVID19 made our crew pretty thin. We know our staff were with us in spirit but myself, Mike and Captain Peter got em all in with our dedicated Crane Operators. We missed the team though!... Now, we wait a bit longer. We're hoping to run our charters soon in a reduced capacity so stay tuned! We'll be posting as soon as diving in Tobermory is open and we can welcome our divers in a safe manner. We miss you all and look forward to our 2020 season... regardless of it being a little out of the norm. - Kelly

Crane Day has been confirmed for May 25th! Our boats can officially get put back in the water. I know our divers are all very eager to get back in the water and we’re eager to get you there! But until further notice, our shore access sites are CLOSED as the National Parks are closed and the Municipal access is closed.... When they open, we will be ready! We are working hard behind the scenes to plan for a successful opening including communicating with the Municipality and Parks Canada. We are now waiting for Parks Canada to confirm they’re opening our parks on June 1, and in what capacity, and Provincial guidelines for ‘group gatherings’. This will not be a normal season but it looks optimistic that we will at least HAVE a season. We will have guidelines in place following Provincial and Federal recommendations for the shop and boats to keep our staff, divers, and town safe. These are uncharted waters for us all and we look forward to navigating it with all of you! Stay tuned for news as the situation develops!

Here's a story to brighten your day! This gentleman called and left a message at our shop... from Tobermory, Scotland where he's working as a commercial diver... that he wanted us to share this story to help find the owner of this prosthetic leg. He thought he was calling Divers Den in Panama City Florida where they rented their tanks. His son recovered the prosthetic last week while they were diving off the jetty in Florida. This is not the first time someone has called the ...wrong Divers Den (believe it or not, it's not a very original name... yes, there's one in Panama City, Florida) and it's not the first time someone has called thinking we were in Tobermory, Scotland. HOWEVER, it is the first time both stories were involved in the same phone call! Bobby was a good sport when I told him we were in Ontario, Canada... he's not the first nor will be the last on this one. But told him I'm definitely sharing this anyways as well... you never know! Share and help find the owner of this leg!
