After a month of being closed, our family has made the decision to permanently shut the doors to our Strathcona Doan's Vietnamese Restaurant location. As many of you know, Covid19 made a huge impact on all our lives, our economy and unfortunately, it hit our family hard. It's not easy to say good-bye and it took me quite a while to come to terms with the reality of our situation. We've made such amazing friends along the way and built incredible relationships with our suppli...ers, vendors, staff and most importantly all of our customers. What does this mean? It means that our own staff will be delivering your meals! Choosing this service over Skip the Dishes means that you are supporting us directly! Our loyal staff can stay employed and we can stay open to serve you. Choosing our in-house delivery also means that you w...ill be PAYING LESS for your meals (Skip the Dishes menu is slightly higher due to their commission charge). With heavy hearts, we are announcing the closure of our Doan’s Downtown location. It was a difficult decision for us to make as a family. We closed in October 2019 in hopes to re-open in November, however we had a family member fall very ill. We’ve spent the last 6 months spending quality time with our family and through this, we made the decision to close our Downtown location permanently. Doan’s started off as a small 10 table restaurant in Chinatown (1988). As Edmonton gr...ew, we were happy to grow with it. We blossomed with the city’s economic boom in the 1990’s by moving into a new location in 1993 (by The Brick). For years, Doan and Cathy would drive by Giovani’s Italian Restaurant at 10130 107 Street daydreaming that one day they would be able to call it their own. In 2001, their dreams came true and the new home for Doan’s Vietnamese Restaurant was open. Over the past 18 years, we became a small staple in our downtown community as we flourished with the changes around us. We’ve seen some of you grow up from little wee ones running around (throwing noodles!). Or maybe you were a University student on your way to a big exam. We’ve celebrated weddings and countless anniversaries with you. We will always cherish all the special moments you have made with us Thank you, Edmonton! We love our city and our customers. We have thrived because of you and we are grateful for all the memories. Our Southside location is still OPEN!
